Converting Raleigh to Powabyke X

Hi,

I want to convert my X6 to a LS for the wife. Now i think I have two options :

1) Sell mine on ebay and buy a LS
2) Buy the non electric raleigh equivalent and swap the electrics

Anybody know if the second option is possible?

The way I see it I could pick up the LS non electric for a couple of hundred transfer the electrics across and sell mine as a standard, maybe only cost me £100 to do it.. I can't see me getting £650 for mine on ebay as electric to buy new one for £750.

I'm not certain Paul, but the fork width on the X6 might be wider to accommodate the motor, hub motors being generally wider than standard hubs. You'll need to check that, but if the X6 forks are wider and the fork stem is the same on the LS, you might be able to swap them over.

I had thought the forks would need swapping, I think they are wider and by the looks of it considerably reinforced. I guess I just assumed that the stem would be the same, so do you think there is a risk they're not or are they generally standard.

Anybody know exactly which Raleigh bike it is? I think its the Pioneer.

There are different stem types Paul, and the stem lengths can vary quite a bit too. I don't know those individual bikes so don't know of the differences.

It might be a bit difficult to find out, but possibly the best chance is if Powabyke have an agent near you who also handles Raleigh bikes and might be able to answer. Hi Paul

I've just noticed some extra bits on the frame of my X-6 that you wouldn't find on a normal Raleigh, there's a fitting for the pedal sensor and there's a set of fittings that the electrics are attached to. Without these doing a neat job on the conversion might be tricky.
