First one's a concentric motor like the old Flyer F and the Optibike. These are mostly powerful but often not as refined as the crank drives we are more used to.

That second one in the chainwheel "add-on" style is unusual in complete e-bikes, more often seen in kits like the Cyclone.

Certainly no lack of choice in crank drives now, probably too many for the market in fact.

The performance to weight ratio and non e bike look (except battery) of the Corratec is amazing dont you think?

Actually I think the e-bow is more discreet, the motor hidden completely by the chainwheel and the rider's legs would hide the battery.

I agree the Corratec is fairly discreet in that view, but I think side on, the motor and drive to the chainwheel would be much more obvious then. Kids would love it though, but it would need to be £300 or less for them!
