Hello.
We have a pair of coyote connect bikes, bought from Halfords a few years ago. Unfortunately one sensor disc has broken, I have been looking without success to get a replacement. I am talking about the disc on the pedal crank, that contains 6 magnets. I find 5/8/12 magnets but not the same amount, and of course if they are the same size.
Any help will be gratefully received.
Thank you, compadre .

You can use any number of magnets you like. It makes no difference. It's probably best to avoid one with 12 magnets because they give the most problems to get working.

If you have the normal square taper cranks, any of the flat disc sensors will fit.

One thing to look out for is the orientation of the magnets. Test before you re-install the pedal to see if it works backwards or forwards. If it works backwards, flip the disc over.

Thank you, so you don't have to worry about size? Are they all similar in dimensions?
The sensors have two parts - the magnet disc and the sensor. The two parts come as a pair. You replace them both, though some magnet discs will work with other sensors if they're approximately the same diameter as the one they're replacing. The easiest thing is to remove the pedal arm, try the new magnet disc to see if it works, and if doesn't, remove the bottom bracket and replace the sensor.

Thar then brings the next potential issue, which is the connector. There are two main types - the round 3-pin waterproof type and the the rectangular block type. There is no standard for the sequence of the wires in the connector, so you might have to do something to make it right.

What you can do to make things easy is test the sensor before you start. Get one with the same connector, then find a stick, rod or screwdriver that's the right diameter to hold the disc. Connect everything up and switch the bike on, making sure that the motor wheel is off the ground. Hold the sensor in one hand and twizzle the magnet disc around to see which direction works. If it doesn't work, flip the disc and try again, then note the arrangement that works correctly considering the side you want to install it.
