For those of you who are "committed" to making your own products (and saving money at the same time!), this instructable may prove interesting, though you may need to modify it with regard to bike lighting laws in your own country, as I am of the opinion that flashing rear and front lights may not be legal everywhere.....but its easy to modify that!
For those who are not so good at electronics, maybe you have a friend or colleague willing to assist you, but do be careful to not cause injuries to you or your family.

Cool! But there's not a lot of waterproofing in his design, would it last long in the uk rain? Is that level of illumination legal? The cops would be too blinded to give chase.
