I have an ageing Eezy Spirit. After a long drag up a hill on Pedal Assist the motor stopped. On the Spirit Control box there is an led that stays on when all is well but flashes a number code to show faults. Mine flashes 5 times which according to the manual is a throttle fault so I’ve purchased a new one with the battery display. Still flashes 5 times and no motor still. Strange thing is even without the battery the front drive wheel freewheels in forward but has braked motion when wheeling backwards. Wonder if my problem is wiring or motor fault. The new parts came with fitted plugs that match the existing. Any pointers appreciated.

Most likely, your motor wires have melted at the first connector on the forks. If it's not that, you've blown a mosfet or two in your controller. That might have happened anyway as consequential damage. Check that connector first and sort it before worrying about anything else.
