Was funny to watch though...I'd have pi55ed myself if I was there.

My father had a collie who tried that... once... Ever after he was the only dog we had who would only pee in wide open spaces, never against a post

Highside's is the right answer. The 12v supply battery wouldn't have been very far away?
I was on a school trip when I was 12 and one of my friends pee'd on an electric fence! Huge amount of tears and I have wondered often if he ever had any children?

Not all electric fences are battery powered.
A lot of fences round here are mains powered.
