one other thing what is the little square oblong box strapped to the front fork with the motor cable going into it, it doesn't look very waterproof

Ken,

The black oblong box is where the motor cables connect to the wiring loom and you are right it isn't water proof. I waterproofed mine on my Torq Trekking by carefully removing the 4 small Philips headed screws, then removing the cover. I wrapped the connectors with self amalgamating tape, not too many layers or the cover won't go back on. Replace the cover being careful not to overtighten the screws or the plastic female thread will strip. A cable tie right round the case and fork leg makes it quite secure.
If you are carefull, you can still remove the wheel for puncture repairs or tyre changing without disconnecting the motor cable.

Hi Ken

The Torq 1 had the brake cutouts in the brake levers, the electrical connection being just below the brake cable entry with the wires running to the meter. Maybe the latest setup omits these.

Finding my (electric) wheels

After waiting nearly 4 day's for a return call from Cyclepoint, I decided to look inside the little plastic box.Carefully prizing the cables out I could see the problem. One of the fine wires of the 5 lead plug had come out and another was about to.Ezee seem to like using evostick to keep wires in place, I noticed this after taking apart an old throttle assy.
So I decided to visit my local Maplin store in Swindon and buy a 6 pin mini din plug and socket. After cutting off all the leads to an even length, I proceeded to solder these wires to the appropriate pins on plug and socket and after a couple of hours all was done and the wheel now turns.
Interestingly I now have received an email from a Mr Ching of Ezee offering to help, so in the nicest possible way I have told him what I thought of their bikes and dealership.

Glad you've got it fixed Ken, those Hall sensor leads are often a source of trouble.
