Fault code 03 alpino 906

Hello,
This fault code appeared yesterday. I could turn the power on ok but after selecting an assistance level the fault code would appear upon pedaling or applying throttle. After some seconds the display would reappear until i tried again.

I understand this is typically a connection issue to the motor. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything and then again one connection at a time, testing after every attempt. Eventually after an hour the motor came to life after individually disconnecting and reconnecting the front brake "cut out" wire!?

All well and good but i'm none the wiser as to what the fault was or how to prevent it in the future. I would very much like to avoid another 12 mile commute home on a dead Wisper with full paniers! Any advice?
