Just though I'd post my fuel comparisons for the last 8 weeks since owning my Pro-Connect.
This will hopefully inform any potential owners who are thinking of getting an ebike to save on buying fuel and helpful information to others.

BACKGROUND.
I used to use my car for all journeys both large or small in distance.
I own a 1.9litre common rail diesel with a average 40.9mpg return.

PRESENT SITUATION.
I only use my car now for large supermarket shopping, visits the recycling depot and long, out of city journey's.
If I go on any of these trips, while im out i drop of my clean shirts at work for my commute via home.

I now use my Pro-Connect for the majority of my trips for small shopping, commute to work, Haircuts, other shopping, trips to the DVD rental and drop off, trips to the Bank, visit to the city centre.

I used to spend £100 to £120 a month on petrol before.
I have now only used between £10 to £11 on petrol since owning the Pro-Connect.
That's an average saving of £95 each month.
The bike should have payed for it's self in 15 months.
People should also add to this, that my mileage on the clock have vastly decreased, which should benefit its resale value and wear and tear is greatly decreased on my car also.

Lets hope this may help someone to decide on buying an ebike, but feel that the large investment may be too much to eventually see a return.

This outcome has ment I have had to change my travelling habits considerably in the last few months.
Although this for me has been quite a pleasant experience.

Anyone else wishing to add their fuel saving experiences.

Regards Bob.

Bob,

I've had my Synergie Mistral for two weeks. I'm planning on two or three days per week cycling to work (weather permitting), a 24 mile round trip, in lieu of a 29 mile round trip car journey, which should pay for the bike in a year.

so technically you could have been telling us you now only had another 10 months and the bike had paid for its self..

I have been considering this myself. Will the battery last until you have paid for the bike or is it likely you may need a new one before then. Based on the data you have show your battery would need to last about 13,000 miles.

How many miles would you expect the typical battery to last before it needs replacing?

Lithium battery if capable of at least 400 charges:

20 miles range = 8000 miles

25 miles range = 10000 miles

30 miles range = 12000 miles

and pro rata.

Thanks for that Tony.
I did about 5000 miles a year in my car.
I've clocked up 56miles in the car now since I got the Pro-Connect on 9th June.

What condition would we expect the battery to be in at this stage of its life, completely useless or just poor performance?

Question.
Has anyone else took other steps to reduce their car expenditure.
Now my mileage has really dropped I've been looking at.....

1. Limited mileage insurance.
2. Leasing my next car instead of buying.
3. Switching to bio-diesel.

Burncycle unless your car is an old banger and worth less than £500 ,the risks with biodiesel are not worth taking, the cost of a diesel pump breaking down due to poor biodiesel would far outweigh any savings.some pumps work better with biodiesel than others, but still not worth the risk to me.
