Couldn’t help buying this when I saw the price Shimano S705 11 Speed Internal Geared Hub | Chain Reaction (chainreactioncycles.com) – its come today and looks very nice however I have no idea how to fit and cannot seem to find much advice when Googling.

I’ve done my ebike conversion so have some maintenance skills (will get a specialist to build actually build the wheel).

Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

The price is certainly good! You need to say a bit more about your existing conversion, especially front hub drive, mid-drive or rear hub drive. (rear hub drive won't be compatible). It should come with fitting instructions, or you will be able to find them online.

Certainly massively cheaper than a Rohloff speedhub, even when you factor in the price of a new electronic gear shifter, battery etc. Will be interesting to see how it fares in regular use. Shimano say it is suitable for e-bike use, so it should be a pretty robust unit.

I'd like to know what the gear ratios are as my own preference is for quite close ratios so that I can maintain a pretty constant cadence.

Keep us posted on progress.

This link gives information on fitting.

My conversion is a cube AMS110 full suss fitted with Tongsheng – not the simplest of things to put together but all good now apart from the chainline which I’m hoping this geared hub will remedy. Currently cannot use the biggest two cogs at the back so am down to three usable gears (I only do off road so the small cogs don’t really see much action as the tongsheng chainwheel is 42T.

expect I'll need a chain tensioner too.

Thanks for the link

The Di2 is electronic you will need a lot more ancillary bits to get it to work
In addition to the hub you will also need;
alfine 11 shifter d12 over £100.
Axle AR nut kit £17.
Di2 motor unit £125.
Di2 frame battery £££.
A Di2 battery charger £££.
Di2 electronic cabling ££.

yes, think I will send it back - this was always one of my options in case it didn't fit or chainline was not good - price of this stuff is mind boggling!

Better off with the 8 over the 11 purely for reliability, if it had been an 8 for that price or less I would have jumped in and got a couple. One reason why the 11 hub is cheap they simply can't shift them because of the high price initially and reliability, if one had a DI2 11 hub already then a spare or two would make sense.

For comparison -works out about 400 grams heavier than a Deore 5100 rear mech/cassette/rear hub(36h)
