Hi, I have an error where L3 blinks. The manual says it's one of 3 causes.

1. Ride control overheating, can someone tell me what the driver unit is and what to do with it?

2. Speed sensor malfunction. How do I check this?

3. Cadence sensor malfunction. What's this?

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Richard

1. Means controller (not handle bar display) is too hot, often a thermal cut out will cause it to stop working until it has cooled down. To find the controller follow the motor wire to it.
2. Usually means if external wheel sensor used check the spoke magnet alignment with the sensor unit located on the rear LH frame stay, gap between magnet and sensor not more then 5mm.
3. Cadence sensor is located on the bottom bracket usually on the chain wheel side , check the magnets in the disc align with the sensor head and the gap between the two is about 1 -2 mm.

I've got a feeling that the Giants with hub-motors have a temperature sensor in the motor. it would only get too hot if you went too slow with high load.
