Hello, I needed some help getting up hill after work. Uninterested in speed or throttle, only hill climbing ability on pedal assist and compatible with US Markel ebike insurance requirements (<750W, <20mph) so I chose a DIY kit I could speed limit to 15mph and haven't fitted the throttle.

Donor bike: 1995 Dawes Synthesis C90 hybrid
DIY kit: Bafang BBS01 250W, 15ah controller so peak output should be 540W, purchased from California Ebike.
Battery: Luna Cycle 36V, 13.6ah, 489 watt hours, Panasonic 3400 NCR B cells, hooked up to the controller wires with dry-crimped XT-90S connectors and a cheap watt meter acting as both a 'fuel gauge' and extension to the battery kept in a rear pannier.
Cockpit: C965 LCD display with 3-button PAS control and 'big green button' motor kill switch/clutch.
Front chain ring: Lekkie 42t
Rear cassette: Shimano CS-HG20, 7-speed 12-14-16-18-21-26-32 spread
Tires: Schwalbe Marathon HS 420 'greenguard'

Welcome
Looks like a capable combo, and you get to use the 20 mph limit too.
We await the photos.

I tried 20mph the other day and while this was good on the flats I didn't like how it kept pulling more than I found comfortable when accelerating from a stop so I've set the PAS speed limit to 15mph and have not installed the throttle. I will wrap a black neoprene sleeve around the battery wires, install a plastic chain guard ring, and more comfortable saddle.
