Envious of course, but it's too late for us in the UK, the space just isn't available, especially in our old cities and towns. We'd have to start with bulldozing on a massive scale, and that's never going to happen.

They won out in that respect by being early enough with them, before the car became universal and before the great expansion in population of the last 100 years resulted in high building densities.
