How to mod a gen 1 swytch battery to extend range on gen 3 kit

Hi All, I am interested in using my 10AH battery pack from the original swytch gen 1 kit by connecting it to the two outer connectors on the gen 3 kit. However the output carries no voltage until connected to the controller in the original kit. Is there a way to modify the original battery such that the output xt60 terminal will be live without connecting it to the rest of the gen 1 kit?

Try shorting each pair of outer pins. IIRC, they act as a switch.

I have tried shorting across the switch wire but it the power out is still not live.
battery and kit work well on original kit. Photo may help to understand better
