This was in todays news, unfortunately there are still too many people here what believe in the old fashioned honesty of days gone by and don't lock bikes in public areas or use low quality locks

no idea what the model is but I've never seen a ladies e-bike with a red frame and it seems from the tone of the article she was aware it is fairly unique.

I keep my own ebike hidden up in the house!

Thieves steal rare bike

Last updated: 02/05/2009 12:00:00

A NEWSAGENT is without her only means of transport after thieves stole her electric bicycle.

Ann Hubert, who believes her bike is the only one of its kind in Ipswich, was devastated to find it had been taken from behind Cockram's newsagent, in Felixstowe Road, while her back was turned.

The 50-year-old, who relies on her battery-powered bike to get her to and from work, left it unattended for while she collected the early morning newspaper delivery outside the shop.

“I was in a hurry to get the papers in and left the bike round the back of the shop with the key in it,” said Ms Hubert.

“Later on that day one of the paper boys saw it being taken but was too afraid to do anything.”

Ms Hubert, of Kinross Road, bought the bright red bike just six months ago for £400 from China and thinks whoever stole it cannot have taken it far from the shop.

“It hadn't got much charge left in it, so it's no good to them,” she said. “They would probably get no more than three or four miles out of it.”

The thief was seen riding the bike, which has a basket at the front and a box on the back, in the direction of Murray Road recreation ground.

Ms Hubert said: “I've been so depressed since it was taken. I've never had anything stolen and I just thought it would never happen.”

The theft took place at around 2.30pm on Saturday April 25. Anyone who saw the bike being taken or knows where it is now should call Suffolk Police 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

yep could be, though its a shame neither the lady, the cops or the media could give an accurate description, although this is a common issue with all cycle thefts. if it is that model, the way it looks like a small scooter would unfortunately attract scrotes particularly in that area...

....would it be worth this ladys' time to drop a line to the Ipswich Cycle club : Ipswich Bicycle Club

they have a huge membership and would keep their eyes peeled for an unusual machine like this if alerted...?

hope it turns up,
