Hi,

Sorry to trouble you all but I'm hoping one of you kind souls can help me.

I'm trying to add a TAG throttle option to my Mum's PAS only IZIP "Santa Cruz" and I'm getting a little confused.

The bike in question is a 36v Li-Ion model from around 2010 and is the UK version of the IZIP "Via Mezza Enlightened".

The wiring diagram for the US bike can be seen in the link below but is not the same as the "Santa Cruz":

http://www.currietech.com/dealers/wiki/index.php/Bike:Via_Mezza_Enlightened

The bikes are similar in most respects, but differ in that the Santa Cruz is PAS only and doesn't have a throttle of any kind.

The controller is an Ananda 3615DLC and is identical to the one shown in the link below, but with the exception that the three wires marked "throttle control" [Blk, Red, Yllw] are left unconnected:

The five wire housing [Blk, Red, Blu, Pnk, Prpl] marked as "PAS display and selector" is connected to the PAS handlebar display, power button and assist +/- like this one:

I'm hoping it could all be as simple as connecting a £5 EBAY thumb switch to those three unconnected throttle wires, but I fear I might have to start messing with that bank of five if I'm going to do the job properly.

Ideally I'd like to use a proper twist grip throttle, but don't know whether I'd need a six or seven wire version, or which of those I'd need to use given that 3 + 5 = 8.

Any advice would be appreciated.

After I've looked at all those diagrams, my head is spinning. why don't you just show us what you have instead of different stuff?

Hi, sorry for confusing you, I guess I've just put you in the same boat as myself!

I wanted to be clear and provide enough information, but seem to have provided too much.

To clarify, my Mum's bike corresponds to the first picture in the second link.

The third link just shows the display unit she has.

Quite simply: is it possible to connect a throttle to that set-up and how would I do it?

The current arrangement is PAS only and the wires marked "throttle control" are unconnected to anything.

I need to know if it's really as simple as connecting a cheap three wire throttle to those or if I'll need to modify the "PAS display and selector" wires too.

Thanks.

A bit late to the thread as I have been at work.
Looking at the controller there already is a sm3 3 wire connector in situ from the pcb all you require is a 3 wire twist grip or thumb throttle, get the wiring sequence in the right order connect up an you should be good to go. The only bit you may need to adapt is the throttle wiring if it's not long enough.

D8veh, Nealh, thank you both, you've made my life a whole lot easier.

That's precisely what I was hoping to hear.

Just got to wrestle all those wires back into the housing now!

Thanks again.

Just to let you know, we bought a simple three wire thumb switch off EBAY and it works beautifully. Mum's delighted.

As suspected it took me five minutes to fit and a further two hours to get those wires back in their casing.

I hate that bloody bike!

Thanks everyone.
