Hi Guys,

Got my Juicybike and just done my first proper bike ride. Not done a proper bike ride on any bike for about 15 years.

Delivery time.
I was surprised when it had to be shipped to a local bike shop and they had to assemble. That it was ready for collection in a day and half. Thats some going.

Issues
very minor.
Back light a little dim for my liking. but its a freebie on the bike. going to add another. Front mud guard twisted a little and rubbing on the tire. but thats the assembly bike shop fault not juicybike and i will straighten that today.
piston seat. Makes it a little high for my short legs. But i can swop that out easy ;)
All in all the issue list is so laughable its not worth mentioning.

First ride
Distance covered 10 miles.
Now I mention this as I am sure some of us more heavier people may be thinking of an ebike but unsure that it will handle there weight. Im 17 stone and I am unfit. So, for the bike to assist me getting that distance while letting me do some of the work, is frankly fab. Went up the penine way track. I live at one end of it. It was uphill all the way on a slight but noticable incline.

So, for peoples information bearing in mind my weight. on th 10ah battery and the juicybike motor being 250w, on the flat I was hitting between 15 and 16mph according to the speedo.

In pedelec mode was hitting 12mph, but of course if you need a quick burst of speed for any reason a quick flip of the throttle whizzies you up. In fact the quick squirt of juice from the throttle is a great way to zip off at junctions!

When I came to a incline i was getting between 10.5 and 14mph. In fact on the way back home found a nice incline, decided to give it a good test of the motor. and did 3 mins on throttle only (ie no peddling) and found i was travelling at about 13mph.
All in all absolutely chuffed to bits. All I can say is Wheeeee!!!

After 10miles. The battery lights are all still on. More importantly I had a nice little workout, and the unfit me, got back home without being too knacked for work.

Showed me brother the bike and he now thinking of an electric bike to. Worked out it will save him £9 a day in bus fares to his college course (£27) a week. So an ebike would pay for itself in no time.

What I realised being a new rider, is that I need to sort some gloves. in the country side its very exposed, summer gone and I need to get soem cover. Also after 10 miles my hands where feeling the vibration. So i think i need a little padding in the gloves to ease that off a bit.

So, in brief words its a lot of fun. Hard to compare as I don't have experience on other ebikes to compare it to. But my initial impressions. For me it was a good buy. Certainly would not hesitate recommending the bike to anyone, and if I was to score it would give it a good 9/10.

So bob at Juicy bike. you need to do a lower seatpost option. and look at that back light. You had that sorted and i would have given you a 10 ;)

p.s.
Bought at the same time saddle bags, there oxford ones. absolutely fab.
So. now need gloves & Bike kit if i get a puncture
God knows how i am going to keep my head warm on these exposed country roads though automn/winter, will solve that one next.

Thanks for appraising us with your first impressions as a new owner Xonath.

In summary, I guess you're saying it does what it says on the tin! Most ebike owners and more particularly, potential buyers want to hear exactly that. I've said before that bikes of reasonable component quality, well specced and well priced provide all the ebike most people will ever need. Ok, I know there are other cheaper bikes available but when one can buy reportedly decent quality kit from a UK supplier with actual premises rather than an online shop, with great back-up support and a good warranty, why take risks to save a few quid at the sort of price point involved here.

I really hope you get the habit of using your bike for nearly all the little trips you used a car for and you enjoy the experience with improved fitness as an added bonus. Let us know in due course how the bike stands up to regular use.

Regards,
Indalo

We shall see

Would have loved the next size up in battery (though would prob never need it), but they where out of stock. However I am sure that if in time i do need more distance I can buy a bigger battery, or another 10ah :)

So i thought go on them get the 16ah battery, however "currently" the batter size forces the seat up by 5cm. However Bob does explain that when you try and order. Another 5cm and I would not have got on the bike. The downfall of little legs.

Anyways. Its lots of fun. Now of to buy some tiewraps. Silly me used the one in the kit and put the speedo on upside down. Glad the bike came assembled. I image if i did it. one turn of the throttle and it would have been 15mph in reverse.

Will be riding the bike each morning as a bid for fresh air and a little exercise, so will report back when i hit my first 100 mile.

Hi Xonath
I'm really pleased you are enjoying the bike.
It's always useful to hear feedback and listen to where we can improve our service.

I will pass your comments on to the Team in the shop (Trudy, Sarah, Rowan, Matt and Joe).

We will soon be opening a second, much larger shop closer to Manchester and from there will be able to offer more mainstream bike shop accessories.

After Eurobike this year, seeing how the mainland Europeans worship their bikes and integrate them fully into lifestyles, I'm quite excited by the possibilities a new, large, specialist electric bike shop offers to fully illustrate how an electric bike can play an everyday role in saving money, health and fumes.

Hearing too when our customers "get it" is even more reassuring and provides a real lift to spur us on.

Welcome to the Juicy Bike Gang!

Hi, Xonath - thanks for a really interesting ride report. As someone else has already mentioned this is the sort of ride most of us enjoy - and you've found a bike that will satisfy your needs. We've found our bikes to be comfortable and reliable. We seem to get one interested person asking for information about the bikes every ten miles!
Keep us posted and may the ewind be ever at your back!
Best wishes,
Tom

HI Bob,

Had another good go today, bike is fab. really cannot fault it. You got me as a fan!
Only minor shame for me, i have seen it else where mentioned and so was fully expecting it. Is I am going to have to change the seat post. Minor thing really.

The reason is i have short legs and the piston seat is about an inch maybe a little more too high. If you could drop that piston down to half its size or offer a non piston version of the bar more of us short stops could ride your bike ;) It also may be somethig worth thinking about for when people try your bikes. That way the height won't put people off. After all its a fab product.
