My conversion kit provided spade connectors for lights which I wired up and both were working ,but soon blew. The motor is 750w the battery 48v. Is the power surge too much? How do I fix it?

Most likely the lights couldn't handle the voltage, have you measured the voltage out put of the spades ? Once you know the voltage supply then you can buy the correct lights needed

If you show a picture/details of the controller there may be more help available. It's likely that the output is far more than 6 or 12v.

Thanks guys . I have a multimeter, I'll test it later but I don't think they make small screw in bulbs above 12v, do they?

I wired up lights on my bike and use small motorbike 40mm dia lights I got off Banggood, they are rated for up to 6 - 84v or something like it and have an intergral step down converter so easy to fit and use.

My b+m led headlight rated 6-42v handles up to 49.2v just fine.
