Hello All,
Thought i'd post a thread regarding my recent holiday to Lanzerote. I went with my wife for just a relaxed holiday to use up some of our remaing holiday entitlement.

Anyway way great holiday, lovely food etc etc...

I did get bored the one day and spotted you could hire a bike quite cheaply.
Amazingly it was not me that suggested it but my other half who knows i've gotten back into cycing over the past year.

We hired out a couple mountain bikes to ride up and down the promenade in Costa Teguise.

The Wife monkeying about...

The stead

As Gemma doesn't ride that much she retired after about an hour of pottering around.
This is when I could really stretch my legs.

In the far distance I could see this...

I thought to myself. I'm going up that.
So I loaded myself up with 3 litres of water in my back pack. Armed to the teeth with a phone, no protective gear and a cheap bike I hired for a Ten euro's I set off in the Midday sun.

The Start of the Hill...

It must have been a good 5 mile trek on the mountain bike to the start of the trail where I came across a young Lady walking a bulldog would you believe. I happy little chap he was chasing me about untill she managed to grab him.
It was amusing anyway.

The terrain is rough large boulders and I must admit I was not as brave as I could have been mainly because I was on my own with no protective gear and there was no one about.

Anyway heres some more pictures...

At the foot of the hill

Looking back down at the road I cycled

Slowly working my way up

The hill is upon me...

I took some quick video's once I reached the large hill in question. There was no way I could get the bike up it so I had to ditch it.

I left the bike on the trails and headed up.
It was hard to climb and took a bit of effort. It was more difficult on the way down though. Rough rubble made the decent difficult and being on my own a couple miles from anyone I did chicken out when it go to steep and I knew it would probably end up rolling all the way to the bottom...

One of my fav places , I hire the bikes from the hire place on the end.
Used to teach scuba diving in the bay whilst staying at the teguise playa.
The restaurant Vulcano is a good friend of mine.
Brings back great memories walking along the front

Really enjoyed the trip up and the run around the hill on the trails was great. Even if the saddle was a bit to high to try anythnig to technical. The bike held up well and the large black jack tires worked and gripped well given the terrain.

No punctures either.

Quick Run down the hill to the coast

Then that wasn't enough so I headed North up the coast line...

All in all an enjoyable ride out and probably only covered 25 mile total but very good fun. I got through my 3 litres of water with the sun out and even managed to burn some of my forehead. (Hair seems to be receeding quicker these days).

Happy chappy

Very true, but I didn't plan it and went on my own with a 10 Euro Hire bike ;-)
