I've got it all done now and today was the first chance I've had to try it out on the road. It was cold, damp, windy and threatening to rain, so I only did 14 miles. I'm glad to say it worked, it worked just fine. After 14 miles the LCD on the Tourer was showing 3 out of 6 dots. The battery itself was showing 2 out of 4 green lights. I had deliberately let the bike do most of the work to give it a proper test.
All that's left to do, is to disguise the jubilee clips that hold the battery holder onto the frame. i also need the weather to get drier and warmer and less windy so that I can give it a real test with both batteries to see which style is best.
It's safe to say, I'm pleased with it. This experimenting now that I'm retired is good. I wonder what will be next.
