New chains

Help request again please, I need 2 new chains.for my ebikes. Have never fitted one before but I am capable. My concern is can I buy an exact 114 link chain straight swap or do I need to shorten, I get conflicting answers from shops.

There is no standard length one can buy 114, 116 & 118 links.

I recently changed the chai on my bike. I went for KMC X Link. It was a bit more expensive than others I could have bought, but it came complete with quick link joining piece and it changes gear wonderfully smoothly and quietly. Worth the cost (15-16 quid) I thought.
