Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi, my name is mike, I am 59, 11st., 5'9" and am retiring in August. My wife and I have just bought a camper van conversion to tour this beautiful country - we live in North Yorkshire - and we are looking for electric bikes, preferably folding for ease of storage, to look around the vicinities of the places we visit. We went to a motorhome show a few weeks ago and saw (and briefly rode) the AS Bikes Electrobike Plus priced at £745, which impressed me on my brief ride but, as a newcomer to ebiking, we would appreciate any suggestions from more experienced ebikers about the Electrobike or any alternatives. I have just seen another thread by a newcomer who mentioned the Pro Rider E Voyager and, when I went to the site, I saw the E Tourer at £579 which appeared very similar to the Electrobike but doesn't fold.
Thanks, and well done whoever set up Pedelecs, it is a very useful and comprehensive site.
Mike

Hi Mike and welcome to the forum.
If you are in west Yorkshire you could have a try of our 20" folding Urban bike at Fullwoods in Preston. If in the east you might like to visit Rusty's in Scunthorpe, who also stock our range and have the folder in stock.

Thanks for the welcome and suggestions Bob, but both my wife and I would prefer the larger 26" wheel, and we live just north of York so both Preston and Scunthorpe are some distance - any other ideas would be welcome.

I'd love a shop in York stocking our bikes Mike. You're about equidistant from Preston, Scunthorpe and Buxton, which are all your nearest Juicy Bike stockists, all of which have the 26" bikes too, by the way.

My advice would be to come over to Buxton where we will treat you like royalty, and generally browbeat you until you purchase one of our lovely bikes!

But, if your not willing to endure such harassment, try a BEBA registered shop or supplier nearer to where you live; that way you will know they are subscribing to a decent code of conduct, and you will not be risking your hard-earned money.

If you do make it over to Buxton we can show you the latest Classics, soon to be added to the website, and also some ex-demo models that are substantially reduced.

Thank you Bob, that sounds like a good idea, particularly as the Peak District is one of my favourite places and we will be travelling there in our 'van in the near future - I will check out your address and opening times on the 'net and pay you a visit.
Mike
PS This is probably not a diplomatic question to ask another retailer, but do you have any information about AS Bikes? - they are based in the Coventry area I believe. Thanks

I can't find a web site for them, but they seem legitimate according to a number of reviews of their folding bikes, in which they seem to specialise.
Coventry boasts a few E-Bike stockists so a trip there would not be a waste of time.

Thank you again, Bob. I have just looked at the Juicy Bikes website and could not find your address in Buxton - could you let me have it please?

Pending Bob coming back in, it seems the whole range is on view at their Buxton stockist:

"Our elegant e-bikes, electric folding bicycles and electric scooters are all available to view and try at our main stockist Eco Republic in Buxton. They also stock specialist spare parts."

Thanks Tony.
Eco-Repiblic is open 7 days a week.

Hi Mike, welcome to the site.It was me that bought the Pro rider. I am sorry to say that I was knocked of it so cant give you much feed back. As far as I am concerned its scrap, going back to 3 wheels. The bike build quality was not great but it appeared powerful, but I didnt get chance to put it through its paces. New trike tomorow yipee. My advice spend money on a helmet, spend time fitting it perfectly.Enjoy your new life roaming round this beautiful isle.

Hi

New to this site and just seen you have mentioned the E Tourer bike which I have. I got mine from Pro Rider in Leicester. Their phone number is Northants based but that they don't have a showroom there, I presume just offices. I had a test ride on their grounds and the bike is perfect for me. It does not fold though and I would say if you want a folding bike you try the Wayfarer Pro Rider.

I have gone from the Road King scooter to a E Tourer bike and I would recommend any mobility scooter user to try an electric bike as it gives you some exercise.

Superb site to read through and I have finally decided the internet is a good thing even for someone at my old age
