Nexus 8 speed issue

I have an issue with a new Nexus 8 speed hub, when under high loads it twists the cable guide bracket up in to the lower stay and the inward pressure stops the hub from returning to lower gears, anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?
I have already found the axle non turn washers were on the wrong sides and the lock plate was 180 degree out of place.

It sounds like the cassette joint is rotating. Have you tinkered with anything that may have brought this on?

Page 17 onwards of this document shows how the cassette fits together. Don't be intimidated, it's simple to pull it apart and re assemble in practice. The first section regarding removal of the internals is a different story.

Like it from new, the only things I have done are those mentioned after it slipped on the first ride.

The only thing that I can think of is that the anti rotation washers aren't fitted / engaged properly or that the cassette joint isn't assembled correctly. The cable guide arm does have a tendency to want to rotate in the opposite direction to the rear sprocket, but this should be prevented by the washers. Can you easily take it back to the supplier?

The problem of buying on line, the supplier is 1,600 km away, I will see what they can do if I can't find a non shipping answer.
Thanks, for the replies.

What bike is it? Try and get supplier to pay for it to be done at LBS or threaten to return under sales of goods act or distance selling Regs

Actually eddieo makes a good point. The nexus hub is standard bike fodder, not exclusively ebike related. A bike shop should be able to sort this out if you don't fancy it yourself. I'm sure that it will only be a rear wheel out and re-fit properly job, about 30 mins work max if you are lucky.

It's a Tonaro Esprit but with a roller brake in the rear as well, makes for a very tight fit getting the wheel back in :)

A Tonaro Esprit eh. I think eddieo secretly aspires to own one of these beauties.

Nothing unusual there. A LBS should be able to take a look at that. Giant produced a non assist bike with exactly that set up.

Erm.....Not when I can get a resonably wide choice of high spec Bosch powered and lightweight bikes for around £1200 from Germany;)

Which could just as likely have a knackered Nexus Hub

when I bought the KTM bike last year the hub was not adjusted properly and needed setting up .this is different as it was not fitted properly. Not the first member to have problems with the "quality" of these contraptions (cant bring myself to call it a bike)

Anyway confident that German quality control better then Chinese. But lack of PDI buying online is an issue

Dropped it into the LBS and had a call a short time later to pick it up :)
A lock nut in the hub wasn't fitted correctly.
Thanks all :)
