A friend of mine has a X24 Powabyke less than 1 year old, he ordered a new ignition switch form Powabyke 7 days ago and has still not received it, in this day and age of next day delivery etc. I think this very bad service. If dealers want us to buy their bikes then they should respond by giving a service that is excellent otherwise we will buy elsewhere.

There is a company POWABYKE Ltd that has been highlighted on my company check records as being 'in liquidation',this company has a registered office...Marsh Wall,London E14,reg No 03784059....I advise this carefully as sometimes companies with similar names are highlighted on my companies check register so please check carefully whether this is the same Powabyke.

Powabyke did go into administration some while ago, but were rescued by a takeover. Always based in Bath, their main website has no easy contact details, but they have their own Powabyke shop there with a telephone number on it's site:

01761 568085

If they can't help, ask them for Frank Curran's number at their nearby head office.

P.S. Here's some more info on the head office I've dug out that might help:

I think the original poster is a bit harsh to describe the service as poor after only 7 days. On eBay, you can't even complain about non-delivery until a month has passed.

Little excessive reaction I think, to come to such a conclusion.
More appropriate I would argue is to offer praise should the part come within the week.

Could equally be poor postal service...

Let's all hope Powabyke, which has a long history of trading with many satisfied customers, is still in business.

Firstly can I thank the forum member who emailed me to highlight this thread. I don't log on that often as finding the time to read all the posts very difficult, but also I want to remain unbiased and neutral when posting so will only post when there is a Powabyke related subject.

Can I ask you to email me directly fcurran@powabyke.com the dealer who your friend is dealing with please? We have plenty of stock of ignitions and have only had one ordered in the last 7-10 days. Please accept my apologies if the dealer has let your friend down, but hopefully I can post one out tomorrow for them.

Kind Regards

Hi there, Powabyke Ltd did indeed go into administration some two and a half years ago but were bought out and continued trading. We have indeed changed hands again back in early December 2011 but it's still business as usual. We moved out of the Bath office back in November and now are based in the same location as our warehouse allowing us to operate more efficiently. Our permanent phone line went live last week as the previous numbers were on divert from Bath. If you have any queries please contact me on either fcurran@powabyke.com or call 01761 568085. Alternatively the latest news is updated on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Powabyke-Electric-Bikes/158990774144076 or on Twitter @PowabykeLtd . Please note there are a couple of fake accounts on Twitter and Facebook.

Can I thank you for the kind comments made about Powabyke and wish forums members the best for the coming year.

Kind Regards

FrankC

I bought a few bits from Powabyke during December all were delivered promptly and well packaged. I find them a good company to do business with.
When I have emailed Frank he has answered promptly.

FrankC , my friend is dealing with you direct, his name is Simon Walters, still not received the switch 14.2.12.

Spoke to him tonight he is going to phone Wed. to check on the situation. John

I must admit that the post was meant to be a hurry up to your company.

We are not talking about eBay we are talking about an in stock item, how long does it take to put something into a jiffy bag and post it out.

It does sound like there has been a communication problem John.
If your friend has not received the part yet perhaps he should make a phone call to Frank who I feel sure will sort out the problem promptly.
Frank's number can be found earlier in this thread.

Hi Mark,

I stand corrected, would it be more correct to say a British owned company manufacturing in China?

I for one think it would be interesting to know if anyone is actually manufacturing or assembling in the UK?

Who is British owned and who is foreign owned?

Where are electric bikes actually manufactured apart from China, Taiwan, Japan, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland?

Point taken, but eBay items are supposed to be in stock too. For example, those indicators I posted about previously (eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace) are all over eBay from the same supplier in various quantities, but when I ordered (another) set just recently, I was told they were out of stock! Yet eBay still insist that I wait for a month before registering non-delivery. (Sorry to let my own bad service experience impinge on a more justifiable complaint. I'll stop now.)

BH of Spain are manufacturers who actually make one model e-bike, see here

And Cybien of France are just as much manufacturers as most of the German companies, example here

There's more, but I won't go on. ;)

After further investigations I can confirm the ignition was despatched on the 8th Feb, however the wrong address was entered when filling out the online postage. I am I communication with your friend and hope to have the matter resolved within 24 hours.

Kind regards

FrankC, thanks for that Frank I posted without Simon's knowledge so do not blame him, these things are sent to try us and they do. John

PS Was it Simon's fault if so I can (as we say up here give him some stick)
