Hi All,

First Time I've used a forum....hoping have started this "Thread" in the correct place?

My budget is around £500.
Not top end granted...but think I have narrowed down some potentials.

*The Cyclamatic Power Plus Electric Bike,

*The SYNERGIE MISTRAL LITHIUM E-Bike Electric Bike Bicycle,

and *The Powercycle Salisbury LPX E-Bike.

Any preference or alternatives?

Many Thanks.

Wayne

PS Have just test road the Powabyke and not sure if it was a bad example but didn't think great. Jerky..on off power deliver with what looks like a fairly crude pedal sensor bolted under the the crank...could explain?

Hi Wayne

Welcome. Have to say, £500 isnt a lot in the kitty for a lot of this stuff. But having said that you seem to have done your research pretty well for your budget.

The best advise I can give you is to 'try before you buy'. You will find that quite often what on paper looks to be a solution, sometimes just isnt, and what you exptected to be a failure, actually works for you.

You have not mentioned the possibility of buying a dearer bike secondhand. I agree with that, unless you have an assurance from the original retailer that the warranty is transferable. The present uncertainties surrounding battery life make even a six month old bike a risk.

Hi John..
I agree!!! I have spent as much in the past on a regular mountain bike. That said I was pleasantly surprised when I first saw the Synergie Mistral. Well Built and nise looking bike! Couldn't really tell a great deal of difference between it and more expensive examples...apart from a couple of KG's.
Wayne.

Dearer options

Hi Conal.
Haven't thought of buying second hand bike for precisely the uncertainty you have about battery life?
Even with the cheapest option of the Synergie Mistral there is a 12month warrenty.
I would imagine finding a good second hand example that is still in warrenty and that the warrenty being posible to be transfered to a new owner quite difficult.
That said...Where would you suggest looking and what make that in very good condition would have this second hand value?
Thanks Wayne

What second hand e-bike to buy?

Wisper - David has posted often on this forum and his wonderful attitude and generous actions are in contrast to the recent wheel rim thread that highlights the publiic relations disaster that is 50 Cycles, an otherwise well thought of retailer. This illustrates the value of the customer service that David provides. Like Captain Kirk and USS Enterprise, he goes far beyond where man has gone before!

David has confirmed on this forum that he recognises warranties when bikes are sold on. You could send him a private message if you wanted to make sure.

I have an Ezee Forza purchased from 50 Cycles when they were retailing for Ezee, and received great service from them and now from CyclePoint in Brighton, but I have never asked if they allow warranties to be transferred.
