Dead right.
I wonder if saneagle is going to comment on that clip.
Why would I or you take any notice of what some guy, who worked closely with Obama and is an ex-boyfriend of Hilary Clinton, has to say about his arch enemy? This is a deep state operative with the same roots as all the others. I can't believe that you guys would be taken in by that shite. Trump is extremely popular with the American people. He's doing what they want and becoming more popular by the day. Plus, he's very entertaining while he does it, which is my only interest. Compare Trump's popularity with our Prime Minister, who's been judged as the most unpopular leader in the western world throughout history - probably for reasons.

You and I have some bets on the nasdaq, so trump helps both of us in addition to being entertaining. He is also educational. His tariff play caused Google to report that the most popular search this week is 'what are tariffs '. I wonder if those are from the same people that bought $TRUMP meme coin.

If you had bought some yesterday, you would have made 600% bynow.

I told you about that BBC charity a few months ago. It's basically a money laundering racket.

I take notice because the parallels in behaviour he comments on, are absolutely obvious.

What does it matter who he worked for? What matters is this: Does what he says pass the smell test. Is he a liar; for example did he say Trump has done things he did not do?

The answers are, yes - it does pass the smell test; no, Trump has done and said the things he listed. This is not the first time Trump has acted like a fascist and made fascist announcements. I'm surprised you can not see it, or rather, I'm not that surprised any longer. You have by now quite a history of ignoring facts and coming to conclusions that are incredible. Given that you are an intelligent guy - it is incredible to rational people. It shows you are heavily invested in opinions that sensible people don't hold - as if you have been sucked into a cult - the MAGA Internet cult, perhaps.

Trump is even threatening to seize the territory of other countries. He has threatened Panama and Greenland, and made a joke about taking over Canada. Today we wake up to news that he wants to take over Gaza and deport its population. He does think like this. It is obvious. he is at heart a fascist. This is what fascists do.

If you can't see that he is a megalomaniac fascist, there is nothing more I can do to help you. Rational argument can work, but you can't rescue everyone.

There is a simple rule with the things Trump says and does. If the thing is good, he lied. If it's bad, he told the truth.

His own words:

"The US will take over and rebuild Gaza after the Palestinians have been re-settled elsewhere."

"I don't want to be a wiseguy but this could be the Riviera of the Middle East. This could be so magnificent. The US will take over the Gaza Strip. And we will do a job with it too. We will own it, and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous un-exploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site and get rid of all the destroyed buildings, level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area."

Trump said earlier he would permanently re-settle Palestinians in countries like Jordan and Egypt and other Arab states. These countries have not been consulted and have not agreed to such a plan.

He is a megalomaniac fascist in the mold of those we mentioned earlier.

While I utterly despise and loathe organisations like Hamas and all those Islamist fanatics, the talk of deportation and final solution is not new and we know where it came from and what it led to. He is doing the same thing in America with illegal migrants, talking of millions of deportations and super mega camps.

The fascist undertones are explicit. They are no longer undertones, but final solution policies evolving in his head and overtly spoken. Whether the United States checks and balances will allow him to execute them is another matter.

Of course he finds the checks and balances of democratic government a problem. They are described with loathing as 'the deep state', as if they were a sinister impediment, rather than the sinews and bones of the very democracy of the USA.

People, who can use learning, thinking and logic to figure out how ebikes work, can use the same to figure out anything. People, who can't, can't.

Gaza was a giant open air prison, where the Palastinians were kept like animals in a zoo. They weren't happy with their situation, neither was anybody else. There's a new peace plan, which they have at least temporarily agreed with, presumably because it will give them a happier future. What Trump is good at is creating a deal where everybody wins. If his plan is so bad, why are the Palestinians not firing their rockets?

If I said that I was going to cut out one of your kidneys and burn it, you'd say I was a psychopath. If, I said that the CT scan shows that your kidney is infected and you'll die of sepsis within 24 hrs, you'd beg me to cut it out.

This post contains an obvious logical flaw. You think that applying the same mental strategies which apply to e-bike repair, will work just as well in solving complex moral problems which involve weighing competing moral imperatives. These spheres of cognitive activity are not the same at all.

Take the example of a Nazi mechanic who was moved to operating the gas chambers and crematoria at Auschwitz. He was a good mechanic and could easily diagnose mechanical problems. How did that help him do the right thing when he got the papers moving him to mending extermination machinery?

Your post presents a version of the appeal to authority fallacy, but it is worse than that. It contains the erroneous assumption that because a person is capable in one arena, he is capable in another. Even if that were true - and it isn't, it offers no relevant evidence in the matter under discussion and is a simple appeal to authority - which is a fundamental logical error.

Why not engage with the actual matter in hand and explain why Trump's behaviour and statements do not indicate fascistic tendencies?

You're trying to solve simple problems with nebulous and ethereal thinking, when all that's needed is simple logic to get a simple solution.

I can lecture you all day about how to solve different types of problems, as that was my speciality in industry, where I made my fortune. I could write books on it, also on the reactions and participation of those involved, which can be downright weird.

Again you make the 'appeal to authority fallacy and the 'appeal to irrelevant authority' which is worse, when you mis-applying one kind of problem solving activity to an entirely different arena.

You also exemplify another logical fallacy, describing my discussion as 'ethereal. thinking'. This is a classic example of the 'Plain Truth Fallacy.

An appeal to authority is a logical fallacy that occurs when someone uses the opinion of an authority figure as evidence to support their argument. It's also known as an appeal to false or unqualified authority.

How it works

  • An appeal to authority relies on people's respect for a person, to bypass critical thinking.
  • It's a fallacy when the authority figure doesn't have legitimate authority in the field being discussed.
  • It's a fallacy because it lacks sufficient evidence to support the claim.

The Plain Truth Fallacy; (also known as the Simple Truth fallacy.

This fallacy favours easily comprehensible data, examples, explanations and evidence over those that are more complex and unfamiliar but much closer to the truth. "I don't want your damned philosophy lesson! Just tell me the Plain Truth about why this is happening." A more sophisticated version of this fallacy arbitrarily proposes, as did 18th century Scottish rhetorician John Campbell, that the Truth is always simple by nature and only malicious enemies of Truth would ever seek to make it complicated.

You often speak of logic, but seem unfamiliar with the many logical pitfalls that arise in debating complex matters, because time after time you leap into them.

I think the most dangerous and destructive of them is the way you make a virtue out of closing down the input of information by denouncing all sources of information which are not a closed cess pool of fake news and Trumpian MAGA extremism. You habitually refuse to access links from sources that are incompatible with your established view.

In an intelligent person, this is a tragedy. The most useful and valuable thing I ever learned was to question all ideas - especially the ones I felt drawn to. We often - all of us seek confirmation bias - that is searching out the evidence and arguments that appeal to us. Sensible people are aware of that and re-examine what they believe. Others shut down the input of information if they don't like the look of it or think that it comes from a source where the material comes from people who disagree with them.

That's a load of ball cox and you know it. You just don't like it that Trump found a simple solution and got all parties to agree.
