The Red Ditch
I got this in the post today. Sick squid (£6) from China. It seems quite strong and 'well made' at first glance. It's done a great job of raising up the bars. It's intended purpose, straightening my back for a more comfortable seating and riding position. It was pretty solid on a brief test ride.

Strictly, those adjustable stems shouldn't be used almost vertical.

The 0-60 markings on the side indicate the maximum angle.

Looks to me as if you have it slightly outside its comfort zone.

Shouldn't be a problem, provided you only ride on road and cycle paths.

A stem riser is a better job, although you might also need a stubby rigid stem if the reach on the original rigid one is too long.

Alternatively, you could deploy your adjustable, but well within its designed angle of use.

It should be fine, but it's worth pointing out for others reading the thread those adjustable stems are not suitable for proper mountain biking where the handlebars are used as leverage, rather than just for gentle steering.

Cheers Paul...Pity it's not West Yorkshire :)

My bike is booked into 50 Cycles in Loughborough on Wednesday,
It's only 9 months old but feels like It'll need similar work to yours,
I'll be happy if I escape with a similar price.

Next bike I buy will definitely be nearer home or at least where I can ring and talk to someone...no more multinational's for me.

....best of luck....Mike

its easy enough to change back but that thing is no good for off road stuff as if it fails you will go head first in to the floor.
