i am looking for a legal (ish) rear hub kit to fit on my Specialised Crosstrail disc 700c bike. I was looking at the oxydrive kit but there are none in the country at the moment and delivery is slow!
Tried out a mid drive 250w Befang today and was very underwhelmed by its lack of grunt. My current Halfords Carrera E had far more poke( mrs having Carrera now)
I only want it for road and trail use and only pedal assist, as not interested in a throttle. I need the exercise !
As long as it has the minimum power of the Carreras and maybe a couple more mph then I am happy. Any uk sourced suggestions?

The bbs you tried may well have had bog std settings given a tweak bt reprogramming they come alive a lot more.
Hub kit sellers Woosh, Cyclezee, Cylotricity, Panda and 8FUN UK to name a few.

Just looked at all those. I would prefer a built in controller, for cleaner looks, so that gets rid of most. Woosh only have the 350w for the rear. Not as easy as I thought !

Which Bafang mid-drive bike did you try?

It requires a different riding technique to the Crossfire - particularly going up hills. The Crossfire has lots of torque and is quite happy for you to stomp on the pedals and give you a big shove, regardless of which gear you are in.

With the standard settings (and with the somewhat "average" battery) , on my MaxDrive bike I need to be a couple of gears lower than on the Crossfire and spin my legs - it does then haul you up hills pretty well. I suspect that with a more capable battery and a few tweaks to the settings it will really fly. I've only done 20 miles on it so far though (compared to 600+ on the Crossfire) so really too early to tell.

In terms of the riding experience, the Crossfire is a suprisingly good bike in my view (except for when the power on it dies completely, but I won't go into that right now!).

I just know that it was a standard 250w 8fun mid drive with 15ah 36v battery. I assume it was all standard spec and not tweeted. I am sure it would improve with a little tweaking but it made an uphill very hard work. As it is going at present I may just buy another Carrera as does everything very well, just needs afew more mph on pas. Was hoping for a good quality uk sourced rear drive kit for my specialised though..
