I purchased a custom built e-bike from someone on ebay a few years ago as it was quite cheap but that's all I could afford. That person is no longer on ebay and I can't get in touch with them in otherways. The bike has been really good and generally quite reliable. I use it every day for commuting but the battery capacity has started to degrade where it's sometimes not enough to cover my mileage for the day. Given how much I've used it, it does feel to be expected battery degradation.

The battery I have is 36v and 13Ah (which comes to about 468Wh). I had a look on ebay for the same replacement battery. I managed to find this one (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/48V-10Ah-Li-ion-E-Bike-Battery-Electric-Bicycle-Pack-Lockable-USB-Charger-480Wh/183889097439) which looks identical including the connection, keys, mounting etc. However the battery is 48v and 10Ah (which comes to 480Wh).

I was hoping to be able to find the exact same battery so I could do a straight swap without any other faffing around. Does anyone where I can get the same battery as the above but in 36v and 13Ah?

Alternatively, is there any recommended service places that will help recondition my battery by opening and replacing cells?

Many thanks

The battery you want is a 09 case /dolphin battery and are quite common many outlets sell them. You can't use a 48v battery unless you know the controller can handle the extra voltage some can/some can't. Capacity wise you can use any 36v x ah /wh's you like, extra an/wh's simply give you more range and holds the voltage higher a little longer.

As with any battery you need to check polarity is correct before connecting in case of build/production errors.

When you have a standard battery, like yours, it's cheaper to buy a new one than get it re-celled. The one above looks pretty good. Elife are a known seller, so you shouldn't get any problems with them
