Hi all, a quick rewinding question;
Will 1 turn more or one turn less on any single stator tooth be any significant problem?
Asking because one tooth on a phase has an extra turn,my bad!
Thanks in advance.

The maximum speed of the motor is inversely proportional to the number of turns in the coils.If you have 10 turns and you increase it to 11, your max speed goes down by approx 10%. That's because the back emf is what limits the maximum speed. When it reaches battery voltage, no current can flow through the motor. The back emf is proportional to the number of turns and the motor actual speed.

Saneagle explains very well, no matter the question.

Thanks guys.It does seem one too many winds on one stator tooth is not good!
It can be good if you don't need the max speed that your motor already has because it increases efficiency and hill-climbing.

In case you don't know, the turns in an ebike motor are multi-strand turns. They wind something like 6ix or more parallel wires at the same time so that a 10 turn coil has 60 loops of wire around it.
