The bicycle that I ride here a t home in Wiltshire is a Brompton, which has been fitted with an electric motor by a talented local engineer. In its pre-electrification days, I several times took it with me as hold-luggage in the aeroplane for a cycling-holiday on the Continent. However, I am not permitted to do that now, because batteries of the relevant size and type are classified by the Civil Aviation Authority as a hazard in relation to passenger-aircraft. I understand, though, that there are freight-agencies that will transport ebikes between England and the Continent. Has anyone tried such an agency, and, if so, how successful was the experiment ? Or is it just a matter of finding 'a man with a van' ?

this is an unsolved problem, airtravel and ebikes. Li-ion batteries can explode, and I don't want to be on a plance when this happens.
