I know we are not officially into autumn just yet but it is cold enough in Denmark to be called autumn. We had a wonderful Spring a very wet Summer and now we appear to be having a very nice Autumn, which is bound to be followed by a long, hard winter.

Jannie and I are making the most of the sunny weather by getting out on our Tonaros whenever we can. I had a problem with the ratchet on my Enduro but Phil at Powerpedals was quick to send a replacement (plus a spare for Jannies Compy. Just in case). I had it fitted in ten minutes and off we went on Saturday morning for a 60km ride out in the Danish countryside. We have a lot of countryside in Denmark and the farmers maintain an excellent lane system which they are happy for people to ride along on horses or bikes.

It is certainly getting chilly though and we had to wrap up well and get our thermal hats on to start with. It was not long before we started warming up though. I keep my Ortilebs on the bike most of the time and so we take drinks and snacks with us and so we can stop wherever we like for refreshment. We also stopped at a Christmas fair out in the sticks and bought some christmas decorations, again the Ortilebs came in useful.

Riding across country on the Tonaros is so simple and having them allows us to leave not only our raing bikes at home but also lets us get right away from any traffic, not that we have much traffic in our area, but it is nice to be out on the tracks.

The bikes performed faultlessly as usual and we stayed on tracks for about 80% of the time. The rest of the riding was done on either cycle paths or very quiet roads.

Lunch was hot sausages and coke from a petrol station and then we headed towards home but with still 20km to go. Here is Jannie bringing lunch to the picnic table

We set off along more tracks and through the woods where the leaves are beginning to take their autumn colours. It is so amazing what a bit of sun does for you, even if the temperature is low.

We stopped at the seaside at Genner which is not far from home. During the day we had seen lots of cyclists and joggers all taking advantage of the fine weather. We finished off the last of our snacks and headed off for the short ride home. After 60km we both had 2 possibly 3 lights left on the power panel out of 5 lights. The range of the Tonaros are excellent.

We have 2 tips regarding electric bikes.

1. Get out whenever the weather is good, especially at this time of the year. It may be cold out there but you soon warm up. Make sure you take an extra piece of warm clothing, just in case.

2. Buy your partner an electric bike because it is so much more enjoyable if you ride with someone else.

Steve,
Look at the top of the page under 'notifications' I have e-mailed you about this ratchet you mention.
Must say, the Tonaro is such an excellent bike, many people ask me about it whenever I stop. Pity e-bikes are so expensive because I am sure that the many pensioners who ask would buy one if they were cheaper.

Oh, give me a home where the Tonaro roam
Where Steve and Jannie enjoy their day;
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not cloudy all day.
