I think it could be useful/informative to establish in this site some sort of ranking in popularity, based on the opinions of amateur users, as opposite to the ones set up by experts or critics. It could show that they usually don´t coincide.

According to this thread, it's eZee, closely followed by "other" ( :D ), then Giant, Powabyke and Powacycle.

It's a distortion over time of course, and with only a minority of members taking part and newly introduced makes not represented, far from accurate or current.

The trouble is that this is constantly changing. Among forum members Ezee are probably still at the top on current ownership, but on current sales Kalkhoff are probably in the lead, with shortly Wisper perhaps taking that position as the supply position eases. The later introduction of the new generation Powabykes could knock them aside for a while, and the Cytronex might have a short term fairly high position meanwhile, though it's probably too specialised to hold a top spot for long.

It's a bit like the old days of chosing HI-FI or a new computer, scared to buy because you know a new and better one was just round the corner. Well I've taken the plunge and ordered a Wisper (mind you the fact that my company's Cycle to work scheme ended today did concentrate my mind). I just wish the 905se had a larger frame.

You are quite right. Deciding on a E-bike is worse than on a car. There is less info. In my case Flecc has come several times to the rescue. But I seem to be a lost case. I´ve been changing my mind constantly,... and driving him mad, I am sure!
From what I´ve heard it´s a very good choice. I had a clone that was fine except for a few failures and had it sent back. Hey , but it was a clone!
Regards.

I think the choice is easier if you split it between hub motor powered bikes and the panasonic powered bikes.

I own an Ezee torq and a Kalkhoff Aggatu. I have discovered that the kalkhoff is faster largely because of the not having to fight the resistance of the hub.

I recently took the Torq out for a spin when my agattu was in for a minor repair. I could not believe how different it felt to the kalkhoff.

I am now firmly in the panasonic camp but still rate the ezee bikes as the best of the hub choices and although ive not riden a wisper they would seem to be regarded as up there at the top of the list too.

Must get round to flogging the Torq

By flogging you mean selling it? If so, aren´t e-bikes hard to sell secondhand on account of the price of batteries, motor and such? Here in Spain it would be rather difficult as these machines aren´t popular. yet.

And when you've flogged the Torq Paul, perhaps you'll try a Cytronex?.........

I would imagine the current price of fuel would mean quite an easy sale. I will probaby stick it in the classified section on the forum first and see what happens.
