Hi Zebb, member Gringo mentions he has them in this post made on 21st January, so a post in that thread or a PM to him could get the information you need.

They look just the job for me too & at <£40 delivered for 2, should be a good buy.

"All-rounder", Sheesh!

Well, there's a coincidence... Just saw Gringo's comment in the "Anyone using their bike offroad" thread

I must be getting a real anorak when it comes to weight and trying to reduce it. They are roughly 580grammes heavier than my Panaracers. :D

They do look a good tyre though, and with the Kevlar band should prove durable in respect of punctures. :)

Slime if you were to put it in, adds a further 690grammes of weight.

You won't go far wrong with Schwalbe, and I wouldn't worry about a few grammes on an ebike - better to have more meat on the tyre.

Smart Sams are knobbly-ish, so biased a little towards trail rather than tarmac.

The schwalbe green guard are a good priced tyre for the protection they provide. The schwalbe marathon plus line is £8 to £10 pounds more per tyre but much better. Well built and rugged combined with slime should banish common puncture issues.

Thanks everyone for replys, John I know about the marathon plus, but would they be any good on road, or would they act the same as the all rounders. Not sure just how much faster they would become slicks.

Flecc thanks for link.

Got to do something, my current schwalbes are useless.

Have a look at the Marathon Plus Tour. A semi aggressive tread that would work well on or off road IMO.

I also like the look of the Marathon Plus Tour, should be an ideal compromise tread, judging by appearances.

Schwalbe recommended the following for what I asked about, so what your pointing out is the same, would that tread be any good for the soft grass and mud patches thats about.

For maximum protection – Marathon Plus Tour:

Or for a more wallet friendly variant:

http://www.schwalbe.com/en/tour-reader/tour-plus.html

For a more capable off road tyre however Smart Sam Plus – This being an off road tyre first and foremost but with a tread that lends itself to rolling well on road:

That very close blocked centre tread of the Smart Sams will ensure quite good rolling on road and will obviously be more capable in mud and wet grass.

Not sure how well the Tours would cope, but probably more for occasional than heavy off road use.

Marathon Plus are my tyre of choice for tarmac only, Marathon Plus Tour are for road and trail. As for the Marathon Plus MTB that I linked to above, they are only really intended for trail and off road riding.

I never see the point of MTB tyres if you spend most of your time on tarmac.

Well this is a fast moving thread !
Yes I have a set of smart sam plus tyres (2.1" on 700c rims) they replaced some conti road tyres.
I've only done around 140 miles so far but they have been better than I expected, rolling as well as road tyres and grippy as you like in sloppy mud.
I'd buy them again in a heartbeat :)

Just out of interest, what bike are the tyres going to be fitted to?

When you do finally decide upon a tyre, see if they are cheaper here first. http://www.bike-discount.de/?lg=en&country=226&cr=GBP They often are, and delivery usually takes three days tops.

Tyres and tubes, to save you hunting. http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k288/tyres-tubes.html

Another company that is also worth checking out is Rose. Again delivery times are very quick. http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/products/bike-parts/tyres-and-inner-tubes/

Might be worth checking out Schwalbe Land Cruisers, cheap, dead silent on road, bloody fast compare to 2 other crossover tyres I had tried and according to reviews lower the pressure and they are as good as dedicated off roaders in all except deep mud.
Reviews suggest very pucture resistant in real life probably assisted by the high tread.
