l bought the little Mirider folding ebike for my wife to ride when we are on holiday.
I've been out on the bike about ten times since purchasing it two weeks ago, covering around 130 miles in total.
And this is the thing. l actually prefer the Mirider to my £5,600 Kona FS e-mountain bike.
Partially because l've not been doing so much extreme off road recently, l've moved to road and trail riding.
The Mirider (it's a light weight hub drive folding ebike) is more fun because it takes more work to keep it at the maximum speed, and because of this l feel like l've done more of a bike ride when l get home.
l've pushed the Mirider to the limit of its range and what kind of riding it can do, tackling light off road and bridleways etc as well as road riding.
I think the fact that it's got rear suspension helps because if you stand on the pedals you can negotiate rough ground at quite a respectable speed. To the surprise of MTB riders "what the hell's that" was one comment l got today.
And recently some lads on bikes in the park shouted "sh*t bike mate" as l rode past. "Try and catch me then" l shouted back
Two gave chase. They couldn't keep up, and that was on rolling singletrack through the park. l bet they thought "we'll soon catch that old duffer" Sorry lads, wrong old duffer...l ride 3,000 miles MTB every year
However
l do need to get back on my Kona and give the folding ebike to my wife, who's complaining she's never seen her new wheels since we bought it.
