As part of Suffolk’s Year of Cycling initiative, Lowestoft will be home once again to family cycling activities on Royal Green on the weekend of 16th and 17th May.

The event involves the local community and schools and is expected to attract over 4,000 people to its cycling activities, exhibition area and retail tents.

The weekend will also feature a fun zone for younger family members, BMX stunt team and live entertainment as well as tips on cycle maintenance. Joining in the family fun will be electric bike specialist, Electrifying Cycles of Cromer, who will be demonstrating their latest models.

The last cycle festival at Lowestoft saw the young and old taking part in rides along the town’s seafront. A spokesperson for that event said: “Cycling is becoming increasingly popular so we are  looking at ways we can help people to either become cyclists or continue to enjoy it.”

Festival organiser for this year, Terry Osborne, said: “You just have to look at the number of people using cycles in Lowestoft to see how important it is for the town. Our student volunteers are putting in a tremendous amount of work to plan and execute the festival. There will be help, advice and fun for everybody.”

The festival is free to enter and takes place between 10am and 4pm on 16th and 17th May 2015 on the Royal Green, Marine Parade, Lowestoft.
