Electric Bikes for hire in the Peak District

A new bike hire scheme called The Electric Bicycle Network has been launched to provide a fleet of electric bikes for hire, firstly in the Peak District and Devon. Created by ex-employees of Cycling England, the quango axed by the Government earlier this year, the new scheme will link scenic cycling trails with hire points and tourist attractions.

By making the bicycles conveniently available where people actually want to use them – from their hotels, guest houses, B&Bs and the major local attractions this means they won’t need to drive and park. Users will not have to worry about battery life as there will be strategically placed charge points throughout the network.

Customers will have the choice of bicycles provided by Giant and each local project is being set up as part of a big social enterprise, with the network being run by local businesses for local benefit.

Visit Peak District & Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park have developed 9 circular routes which are perfect for electric bicycles. They’re contained in a brand new colour brochure, complete with Ordnance Survey mapping. These ‘journeys of discovery’ range from 7 – 28 miles long and have been carefully researched to offer superb cycling along quiet lanes and traffic-free trails, fantastic views, great eating and drinking places plus some of the most attractive villages and market towns.
