New Cytronex Owner
No need for apologies as I had already answered that question. Did you speak to Cytronex about a repair? You may find that it is cheaper to do that than buying and getting a new motor built into a wheel. If it turns out to be the wiring or controller you will have wasted your time/money. As previously discussed the tongxin motors are fantastic to ride unassisted due to the roller drive - you may not get the same experience with a new motor. The price you pay of course is that they are less robust but if you are careful and know their limitations then they shouldn't break. I owned the FX at one stage and it was fantastic but not up to a 20 a day commute. PS you mention you have bar ends rather than the much more convenient thumb buttons. Cytronex did a conversion for me when at what I thought was a reasonable cost. I have always found Mark to be very helpful and I always enjoyed visiting his shop as he always had some great bikes to drool over (luckily my sister lives in Winchester so I had an excuse to visit).

The usual drive breakage happens on rough terrain - never ride with power over cobbles for example. If you can hear the motor spinning fast but no drive that is the drive broken. If it sounds noisy more likely to be controller or wiring (wiring and connectors are absolutely the best in the business IMHO).

It is most likely that the ring that holds in the rollers had cracked. The motor should be fine and it just needs a repair. It is not uncommon and one of Marks team could fix it. Not sure what motors Cytronex are using but if there was a better one for the money then they would have started using them by now. They're great motors but not robust enough for rough use. Ps it is three wire

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?
I am talking about your original situation where the left lane is also straight on. The left hook is a fairly common complaint from cyclists and the higher the speeds the more difficult the situation is. You have to give the other drivers an idea of your intentions either by indicating or road positioning. If you are in a left only lane then drivers will probably assume you are going left especially if you are hard over on the left. So I would suggest the right lane is the correct lane to go straight on but it takes some nerve and you have to choose your moment to move over. If you used the left hand lane you would have to ride on the right hand side of that lane so they know you are going straight on (assuming there is room at the end of the lane for you to do this).

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?
Life as a cyclist is full of such dilemmas I am afraid. Sometimes there is no right answer as it is all dependant on the personality, level of knowledge and aggression of the drivers around you (being in the wrong place at the wrong time). However in this situation I would say stick to a dominant position on the left hand lane and be ready for such manoeuvres (get a mirror). Being in the right lane is bound to wind other drivers up and result in more stress to you and others in the long run.

For sale BH Emotion Sport Max + with 25Ah battery
I am selling my Emotion Sport Max as I have purchased a Blue Label Nuvinci Charger. It is in good working order and comes with a 25Ah battery (less than a year old) and fast charger which charges on the bike. It also comes with the standard charger. I haven't done many miles over the last year and have treated this battery very kindly as I only part charge it and never deplete it – only using the middle 60% (this is possible as it is such a huge battery). It has also been treated well, for example not being left in the sun (obviously it shows all five red lights and is still under guarantee) – it should last many years. Also in the last year it has had new mudguards and a rack. This is a well specified, light (20kg), fast electric bike which is very nice to ride. It has Shimano hydraulic brakes and Deore 8 speed derailleur (11-32 with 41 chain wheel). Panasonic motor with standard 9 tooth drive. At the moment is set up as a sporty bike but when I used it I changed it to a more relaxed commuting bike. I can provide the bits to convert it back if that suits you. This is the 50cm frame so it could be described as medium (they didn’t do a small). A new 25Ah battery and fast charger are about £700-800 and I am looking for about £900. The bike is located in North London or it can be collected from Westminster. I can also deliver it to any mainline station in the capital. PM me if you want any more info or images or leave a message here and I will respond.

Changes Afoot
That is good to know. I have purchased a Blue Label Charger nuvinci belt drive. Not light weight but very well built and comfortable. Nuvinci works very well with the extra power of the motor/leg combo and the aim is to minimise maintenance with the belt drive. The only thing I am unsure of is the balloon tyres - not sure what they do for efficiency.

Changes Afoot
Oddly enough I am test riding a Blue Label bike tomorrow and find today that it has disappeared from the freego catalog and the brand has been taken over by David and Wisper. I have dropped him a line to see what is going on...

E-Bike Vision batteries
My battery is 4 years old and is pretty tired. It lost bar quite early on and then another bar a few weeks ago so down to 6ah. It used to feel sprightly, at least initially after a charge but lately felt very flat all the time. Now the new battery enables the bike to storm up one hill at 16mph whereas the old one was down to 13-14mph.

E-Bike Vision batteries
Thanks James. I see what you mean about getting it on the bike as it is a right faff to line it up. In a moment of weakness I have ordered a plug in charger. £50 from eBay so not too bad and it is 5a rather than 6a so a little slower charging rate. Bike is transformed now. The battery must have been limiting the current in a clever way to avoid cutting out.

E-Bike Vision batteries
The battery has been delivered so I will give it the full charge/ discharge as recommended by flecc and see what the range is. Very good and quick service from bikediscount.de and the 25 ah battery was 25% off list price.

I am sure it is not intended but your post sounds really bad tempered. Nobody is asking you to look through 19 pages if you don't want to
