Not a bad deal..
Every the supposed rrps look too good to be true... 399 for a bike with a Bosch mid drive?

Carrera display unit
I would imagine they are but you would lose the miles on your odometer and any settings (metric or imperial etc)

Halfords Carrera Crossfire e Battery cutting off...
I've only had a cut off three times in about 250 miles and it's not been enough to spoil my experience of the bike... Notably the first time I got it was straight after I accidentally dropped the bike onto it's side... No damage to bike but literally as soon as I started pedaling it cut out. Had to take battery off and re insert it to get it working again. Another time was after I had been standing at a traffic light for ages that was broken and didn't turn to green. Anyway... If you have a look through the reviews on Halfords website somebody claims to have fixed the problem by sticking some sort of layer of padding under the battery so it's more snug in it's fitting when slotted in. Somebody else on you tube claims that taking off the Velcro cover near the back wheel, fiddling with the connection and re attaching the Velcro really tightly helped with theirs (interestingly I cut off a cable tie here closest to the wheel as it would have stopped me fixing a puncture in the back wheel if I got one). I've not messed around too much as it's not really an issue for me but I appreciate if it's happening every time for you it's more of a problem.

Halfords Carrera Crossfire e Battery cutting off...
I've had the cutoff about 3 times in 250 miles... Would prefer it didn't but taking the battery off and putting it back on does fix it and it doesn't bother me too much. I was aware of it before I bought it having read reviews and forums but the price is good for what you get.

Suntour sp12-Ncx question for anyone with a Carrera Croasfire e...
Speaking for myself I got an ebike because I had really bad back problems so it made sense for me to get a sprung seat for the first time when I got an ebike because it's easier on my back. I would imagine the thoughts could be similar for a suspension seat post.

Carrera Crossfire ebike Battery Charger
To be honest I don't even know if Halfords ever have these in to buy anyway... From the posts on this forum nobody seems to be able to buy a battery or charger from them.

Seat post rack, quick release or not?
I've used a topeak seatpost rack for about 7 years... Done coast to coast 4 times on 3 different bikes with it on... That's the benefit for me, I can just take it off one bike and put it on another really easily. never had any problems with it getting nicked but don't leave it locked up for hours outside... Just the odd pub or cafe stop. Really nice racks if your after one... You can get side cages for them to give panniers more stability. Topeak do great trunk bags that just slide in and clip in with built in panniers that fold up and zip into side compartments of the bag... Really useful.

E-Bikes for Children
You definitely need to be at least 14 to ride an electric bike on public roads, cycle paths etc... https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules

Carrera e range
I was actually mocked during the ride today by some passing cyclists for this beer reason. I've offered to get her one but until she can't make it up the hills she is determined to carry on.

Carrera e range
For anybody interested in what the realistic range on a Carrera e is... I'm 14 stone and ride generally on or around the Sunderland end of the C2C route so they're are quite a few short hills that can be quite step and frequent but no real big long hills. If I go out on my own I normally leave it on tour (50 percent assist) and get 40 miles from a charge. If I go out with my wife (who rides a regular non-electric push bike) I ride in Eco (25 percent assist) most of the time and put it into either tour or climb (75 percent assist) for the hills and I get about 52 miles from a full charge.

Carerra Vulcan
I wondered about the difference in advertised range between the Vulcan and crossfire as well given they are the same electrical system and battery size... Came to the following assumptions... it could be down to 3 things... Tires Expected terrain ridden on our terrain range was tested on. Crossfire range was measured/tested a couple of years ago whereas the Vulcan range was measured/tested recently given the dates the bikes came out. Maybe companies are just more realistic about range and riding style now. I had the same decision a couple of weeks ago and opted for the crossfire e because I don't go off-road and it has a few better components I believe (forks and brakes primarily were things I noticed)

First ever ebike impression
I'm really enjoying it (130 miles in so still a newbie). I've also found small maneuvering turns one of the most difficult things but for the reason that I'm going really slow having braked, turn the front wheel quite a lot then gently pedal into the tight turn and as soon as the pedals turn the assist kicks in and tries to accelerate to 15 mph in the tight turn. If I remember I turn assist off while maneuvering. I've become a lot more comfortable in traffic and now actually prefer cycling on roads to bridal paths... I find it easier to ride with cars on the ebike and find the bridal paths a bit too bumpy at the faster speeds I go on the ebike.

Electric Brompton
I seem to remember an announcement following the original one about an electric Brompton coming out soon that said they were scrapping the idea as they couldn't get a design that would retrofit back to the first Bromptons (something they've always said any new features or parts would do which is one of the reasons the bikes hold their value so well)

Halfords E-Bikes
Only thing I would say is that Halfords had put a cable tie on both sides of the connector to the back wheel and I've cut off the one in the wheel side of the connector as it would have stopped me removing the wheel to change the inner tube of I got a puncture out and about with the tools I take with me.
