Understanding Battery Voltage.
Can anyone explain the physics (or electrics) about being able to charge a 500w battery to 80% in 90 minutes but the remaining 20% taking proportionately longer? A sure there will be logical explanation with formula, but can't think of one at the moment.

Touring Spain: Charging Points
Have tried searching the threads but can't find anything recent about nationwide charging points in the UK or Spain. I can see a short lived attempt at identifying points in 2012 but nothing recent. Anyone tried finding charging points in Spain - or the UK close to the Channel ports?

Quick Question: Rockrider EMTB Battery
Thanks. Your idea of taking another part separately is a good idea. I'll have a look at that.

Quick Question: Rockrider EMTB Battery
I have a RR EST- 900 but it's in Spain at the moment. Need to ship it back (minus battery) but can't find details of the battery's weight in any Decathlon literature. Courier won't take the bike if it is over 20kg. It's 22.3kg with the battery so I'm guessing it might be close if the battery is left off. Does anyone have on they could weight and let me know so I can inform the courier. TIA

Frame Locks - 27.5+ tyres
Purchased an ABUS frame lock and stupidly forgot to check the dimensions. It wouldn't fit over the 27.5/2.8 tyres on my ebike. Luckily I was able to use it on my regular 27.5 bike which I use for shorter journeys. So I don't make the same mistake again, has anyone fitted a frame lock to theirs.

Re - purposing old battery packs.
Does that not make the bees very dizzy? Wouldn't want bee puke in my honey.

Shipping an Ebike/ Taking it on holiday (2) - Pile in
Had a bit of help with this just to understand the logistics. The good news is you can take your bike to Spain but ... 1. Sending it ahead means you've got customs paperwork to do. Batteries can be sent but in special packaging and even more expensive customs paperwork. (Both ways) 2. Ferry to Northern Spain possible but only to Santander at the moment as Bilbao not taking bikes. Then you are onto slow trains (Regional Express or Media Distancia) 3. At the time of posting the question, you could go through France quite quickly using their TGV lines. Paris to the Spanish border at Irun would only be 5 hours. But Covid got in the way. So to get an ebike to Southern Spain would be 2 days on a ferry; 8 hours to Madrid (overnight stay); about 8 hours/multiple trains to Seville or Corboba the next day. So perhaps 4/5 days getting there and the same back - plus holiday time. May try this when I have a lot of time / money to do it.

Shipping an Ebike/ Taking it on holiday (2) - Pile in
As the title suggests, I'd like to use my eBike on holiday in Spain. So far I've got the following 1. Flying it out is off as airlines don't like batteries (and I want to take 2) 2. I can take it on a ferry e.g Santander (but not Bilbao at present) and take local trains (not high speed) 3. I can drive it across. 4. I can hire one instead. What is odd with the last one, is I can get a Portuguese hire company to provide one in Spain (not expensive) so commercial transport of ebikes is possible. I've also shipped non ebikes in the other direction (pre-Brexit) for €90 one way so bike shipping is OK. Has anyone looked at this in detail (post-Brexit) and had any success?

Wattage conundrum
Page 11. I have the 417W and the 504W. Interesting to see there is a 630W which is not yet available. https://mediap.industry.panasonic.eu/assets/custom-upload/Devices/E-Bike%20systems/PCT_catalogue_EN_0720.pdf

Wattage conundrum
Thanks for the advice and the insight into batteries. I can't tell you which cells are being used as there is nothing in their literature. Nor anything about the controller. They are - literally - black boxes. But when I come round to replacing the cells, I'll take advice.

Wattage conundrum
Batteries are from the same manufacturer and AFAIK contain the same cells. So the calculation from what I understand you've highlighted (11.6ah/14ah)*(420w/500w)* 40miles range = 27 miles. Not far short of the 25 "remaining miles" flagged up when the second battery was first used. The drop to 12 miles may be partly accounted for by the terrain/climbs but it is a big drop. Will need another few runs to see if I can get it close to the possible 27 miles

Wattage conundrum
.. or where did those watts go. Purchased an additional battery to extend the riding range and ran into a problem. Wonder if the sparks wizards can explain my conundrum. The bike uses a 500W /36v / 14ah system. I purchased an additional [compatible] battery 420W /36v / 11.6 ah. From the first battery (500W) I regularly get 40 miles on an 80% assist over the rolling countryside. The 420W battery only generated 12 miles when the expectation would be 33 miles (420/500 * 40). The "remaining range" indicated when the second battery was use at first said 25 though but only got 12. Now my simple logic - as shown above - is that the watts are stored power and the amp hours only the rate the watts are delivered. Am I missing something?

Best bicycle navigation software?
RidewithGPS Pro's: Differing maps OSM/Google/Apple etc Switches smoothly between desktop planning to the mobile Instant upload when the journey is over so you can look at your stats Works on iPhone "Heatmap" function means you can go where others have gone before Can re-route on your phone if you want to change you plans. Cons: Cost Power hungry (but I take a battery backup with me) Not always clear why it choses to re-route you - but it tends to be correct when you get to the re-route point. Some country coverage better than others. No dynamic rerouting but see above.

Bike Workstand
Shame I've already got an ebay one that is exactly the same. Will take a 23kg ebike but it can slip so make sure you've tightened all the connections. Might just get another as a spare.

Priceless, so simple for small businesses to sort out. Good old BREXIT!
One of my first jobs was at HMRC in Southend, checking import paperwork to make sure the trader had used the correct customs classification - and paid the correct duty. There were hundreds of us, dealing with the volume of paperwork before the Single Market. When the SM came in, we were let go and some went as far as the Russian ex-republics to show them how to collect customs duties and VAT (using an AK47 usually) To give some hope to @Whisper and other bike companies, the level of customs error then was low as companies get used to new ways of working. The paperwork may seem a pain but computers systems now are quite capable of handling the complexity cheaper and quicker as long as you avoid the PICNIC problem (Problem In Chair and not in Computer) If you were to accept advice, though it hasn't been asked, find someone that knows the current system and pay what they ask until you get used to the new ways. Now where did I put that AK? Good luck.
