Woosh starts shipping Tongsheng TSDZ8 with 250W label
Should I get one of these to reduce drag whilst riding? Using this motor i am riding much faster. I seem to riding at about 20mph uphill, 30mph on the flat and upto 40mph downhill (on knobbly tires). At these speeds drag is much more noticeable. I recon 50mph downhill would be achievable on the right descent with one of these bad boys.

It has been suggested in few places that you should fully discharge and charge the battery a couple of times at the start for long term health. Could be BS but I have always done it with phones, tablets, laptops etc. I will defer to a battery expert on the reasons why. Something to with calibration? Like you my charge cycle is usually 50-100% after a couple of 20 mile rides.

I just wanted to charge the battery a few times from almost empty to full.

Does the display show when it's in power saving mode?

I went out for a 20 mile ride today to try and deplete the battery. I last charged the battery about a month ago and had already ridden 47 miles on it. When I set off it was showing 3 out of 6 bars but within 5 miles it was down to 1 bar and range anxiety set in. I usually ride in the tour power setting (2 of 4) so I thought I would drop down to eco (1 of 4). This felt like something was dragging and it was actually easier to ride with the motor off. I made it back home by only using the motor up hills which gave me a better work out.

PSWPOWER - DO NOT USE THEM
What has this to do with PSP power?

Tonsheng TSDZ8 conversion kit.
Just been out for a quick 20 mile ride and experimented with pedalling effort. I am almost certain now that there are two steps of assistance from the torque sensor on this TDSZ8. Just turning the pedals slowly gives you a low level of assistance but as soon as you put some effort in, the assistance ramps up to a more powerful second level. I like the way it encourages you to the extra effort in.

From my experience over one 25 mile ride was the more effort I put in, the more assistance I seemed to get from the motor. I am not sure how it's supposed to work but that is how it felt to me rewarding any extra effort put in. Is there an ebike setting on Strava to differentiate between ebikes and normal bikes? Just set about 15 PR's a couple of KOM's on one ride which somewhat devalue my unassisted ride achievements.

Tonsheng TSDZ8 conversion kit.
Just been out for my first ride after fitting this kit. Once I had realised that I had cable tied my derailleur cable to the frame (doh) it was like bringing a gun to a knife fight after taking a couple of lines of coke (or how I imagine that might feel). Eco mode just about overcomes the mass of the motor and battery but I felt almost superhuman in tour mode. The best bit for me was the torque sensor. The more effort you put in the more power you get back and I was absolutely flying up hills. I overtook a bloke on a emtb and two guys on MTBs going up one hill like they were standing still. I did not use power modes 3-4 as I still wanted some exercise and suspect they might be overkill. In terms of downsides the bike is now pretty heavy and I would not fancy lifting it over gates etc and I suspect this will affect the handling off road. May be I should have not bought a 20Ah battery! I have nowhere to store a water bottle on my frame, so need to look at my options. I need to buy some glasses as I was getting hit by bugs at 35mph plus downhill. For a first ride I was very impressed. Let's hope it gets better still.

Hailong mount plate compatibility.
How are people stopping the battery from wobbling and shaking about whilst riding especially off-road? Have you fitted rubber spacers between the battery mount and frame and/or added additional rivnuts or velcro straps. I would not be particularly happy having a 5 kilo battery held in by two 5mm bolts! I am tempted to do all 3 for complete peace of mind.

PSWPOWER - DO NOT USE THEM
Good point, didn't think of that. Labour cut backs must mean HMRC no longer have supplies of packing tape!

PSWPOWER - DO NOT USE THEM
Check this out for shit packaging from PSW Power! This is how it arrived. Parcel force took a photo for their records. The contents could have easily fallen out but seem to be OK hopefully! You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Tonsheng TSDZ8 conversion kit.
Had anyone done anything to help prevent water ingress particularly with the cable from the battery to the motor? Heat shrink, dielectric grease, silicone sealant? My kit arrived yesterday and I have different connectors on the battery and motor which means two cable joins to weatherproof. Alternatively, I could cut both cables and put them inside a new waterproof connector. Are people using thread locker on the locking nut and crank arm bolts?

Trying to get back into cycling but have lots of questions!
Finally pulled the trigger on a TSDZ8 kit and a battery from PSW power. Let's see what arrives and when. Gave the Zaskar a bath and the drive train a good clean, it was filthy. I have replaced the rear brake cable and given everything a good fettle. I even went out for couple of very brief shakedown rides taking my year to date mileage from zero to 9. They were all proper hard Yorkshire miles! I have also ordered a few bargain bits off eBay, including a decent used front wheel with disc mount and hydraulic front brake kit.

Looks good, what speed and range are you running on the rear cassette? How do you find the chain line? Have you sorted a shift sensor out yet? Do any other displays work with this motor? Sorry for all the questions!
