recovered KTM Macina Lycan GPS
Hi This might be better in the "stolen" bikes section, but as its actually the opposite I didn't want it to get lost in there. We've been contacted by a UK Police force regarding a recovered KTM and we're keen to help reunite it with the owner. Its a 2015 KTM Macina Lycan GPS.... there weren't a huge number brought into the UK, so we're hoping the community on here might be able to spread the word to see if anyone knows of one that was stolen, so we can help get it back to the owner. If you know anything about the bike please contact: Louise@FLidistribution.co.uk or call 01484 535 544 so we can put you in touch the police force. Thanks

Like this one? http://www.flidistribution.co.uk/2019-ktm-macina-chacana-lfc http://cdn.ecommercedns.uk/files/9/204539/5/4635325/799413108-macina-chacana-lfc-m-48-black-matt-toxicyellow-azzuro.jpg Which is specced out of the factory like this. However we've set up packages for our dealers to order so they can upgrade any of the 2019 KTM full suspension eBikes to this set up very easily. Lots of light options are available.

For 2019 KTM are offering a LFC upgrade to all our bikes... details here: http://www.flidistribution.co.uk/blog/ktm-terminology---lfc So you can add KTM to the list, but yes I'm afraid they aren't cheap

Replacing a Bosch motor
They don't input a different wheel size, they change the software to move the speed restriction from 25kph to 45kph. They also do special software for the US and other markets. The 350w motor is a Performance motor with the speed restriction moved from 25kph to 45kph. This is just a software change, so yes a good dealer in partnership with Bosch should be able to restrict it for you. I'm not sure anyone has every asked before. By restricting the speed it'll by default also reduce the power to 250w, making the bike UK legal But yes, the newer Performance CX motor has different power curve etc etc to the standard Performance motor. Also the 350w motor comes on sPedelecs, so there is other differences to the bikes, including mirrors, lights, brakes etc etc all of which are specific and required for sPedelecs. They are not, just normal pedelecs with more speed assistance.

does the Bosch system have walk assist?
Measure the distance between the holes. We work with a brand called Ursus and they make kickstands for loads of bike brands, so I'm sure there will be something available. There are only a few standards. http://www.flidistribution.co.uk/ursus-kickstands Available from all good bike shops.

EBMA files an anti dumping complaint on chinese e-bikes.
I think I'd also be worried if we loose the protection... you'll find that suddenly the likes of Sports Direct, Tesco, Halfords are suddently bring in bikes / eBikes from China at a price / rate that no IBD, or small UK brand can compete with. The impact it'll have on the industry - eBikes & normal will be pretty big.

Do you think maybe this Government don't have a clue what they are doing? Latest news seems to be this: https://cyclingindustry.news/under-no-deal-brexit-all-bicycle-and-electric-bike-dumping-duties-will-be-terminated/ Which means all the work you've been doing will have been pointless? and we'll have a level playing field, just at a different level. With everyone suddenly bringing everything in from China.

UK to Harmonise Electric Bike Law with Europe?
Yes, and I'm afraid you're simply wrong. I know this, because we run race teams and sponsor some of the faster cyclists in the country. On a totally road legal 250w eBike... my wife can beat them.

UK to Harmonise Electric Bike Law with Europe?
You've said 250w is not enough... we're trying to show you that you aren't limited to 250w... there is no peak power limit. Of course you want more power, and if you do, you are able to get more power and speed. You just need a license and pay a bit of tax to use it, plus it counts as a motorbike so you can't use it where bicycles go. 1000w is way more than a normal cyclist can put out for more than a few seconds, so expecting it to be legally classed as a bicycle is wrong and pushing for it could jeapordise the great situation we're currently in.

83.6% Anti-Dumping Tariff on Chinese E-bike. Where the Market will go?
I'm happy to admit when I made a sweeping incorrect statement David, and I'd hope you'd do the same EMBA members have been making eBikes for a lot longer than 10 year and I don't think you'll find any of them who didn't think eBikes were worth investing in... they might of course have been waiting for technology to catch up and be at the level they'd trust before putting it on their bikes. Certainly I know all the brands I'm aware of have been looking at this for years and years.... many just weren't prepared to deal with the warranty issues of using the early motors.

250w is not the limit. There is no limit on peak assistance. Its 250w nominal, ie essentially average. Which is way more than most normal cyclists. So the power isn't a problem. Unless of course you're using a poorer quality motor. There is certainly no need for 1000w. eBikes are supposed to get someone up to the level of a cyclists... and not to the level of a motorbike. Just some numbers to back up my point. http://www.cyclist.co.uk/news/691/chris-froome-s-numbers-what-do-they-really-mean Froome, FTP - which is essentially the same as the Nominal power limit on eBikes. Froome - 419w. So compare that to an eBike with 250w + rider, you're pretty close to the faster rider on the planet. 1000w nominal power limit would give you 2.5x the power the worlds best cyclists. You're never going to win an argument for more power, if you want the bike to be legally classed as a bicycle. There is already a class for your electric vehicle and its a moped class.

Importing bikes from Europe after a no deal Brexit
Which Shimano equipped bike? Because unless you're planning on buying the Orange or Whisper, I think pretty much every other one is made in the EU27 isn't it? Even if it isn't chances are it'll come with German tyres and tubes and a host of other EU derived products. The whole cycling industry is based around a model that involves manufacture in Far East or EU, with assembly in EU to service the EU market. If / when we move to outside that market you'll find that the industry focus's on the 27 remaining states with their consistent laws and market place and we're left as a separate much smaller market (tiny for eBikes) shackled to the EU by our need to match their laws for a host of reasons.
