Has anyone tried to register an S-class in the UK?
So when i asked dvla about this as i was planning on building an electric motorbike after having a go on the zero motorcycles..... Do the bikes come with a certificate of conformity - if so you can register them like any other motor vehicle - and dislay license plate, helmet, insurance, etc. If not its msva time. No other options according to dvla - not sure what light mopeds are..but only three choices in dvla email i got ....pedelecs we know and love, full insurance motor vehicle with coc, or full insurance motor vehicle with msva if no coc...(also a partial one but much of muchness) I gave up but i dont know of anyway to "register" thst wouldnt involve helmets insurance mots etc etc.

1000w ebike ???
morphix - perfect example of leaping to conclusions without checking facts first...... 1. no it isn't - my carrying of a leatherman was perfectly legal in the circumstances and situation i was in at the time. no i didn't - that was yamdude. no i didn't apply this logic to the rest of the post, you're assumptions that because you can spot the difference, so can joe public, your ridiculous costs of motorcycling, and then find me this myseterious headline about multi-tools.? i don't think so.

1000w ebike ???
until i flew 3 or 4 times a week, i always used to carry a leatherman (as did nearly all of the guys who worked for mem) in fact its quite similar to the discussion going on on ebikes.... 1. the leatherman, although in fact its a fairly vicious thing to those in the know, to your average joe in the street, its a pair of pliers. the 1000w ebike looks just like the 250w ebike to your average joe (fair point to both sides, the 'we'll all get banned' lobby and the 'no one cares' contingent 2. the leatherman is most useful as a pair of pliers or screwdriver big power bikes are pretty useless imho - what you gain in speed you lose in rrange and risk (not for me anyways) the stealth i rode felt flimsy and scary at 250w, let alone 1000w (just my 2p) 3. there aren't enough of them for people to care exactly like ebikes 4. its not a sexy headline grabber 'rampage with deadly multi tool' push bike with big motor you can buy off ebay for less money thana 10x as powerful motorbike..... 5. too expensive to be mainstream this is less true for both leatherman and ebikes i think than it used to be, but still a valid point - its cheaper and more damaging to buy a motorbike than a pedelec. its worth noting that the numbers and comparisons are often exagerated by sellers.....1000w ebike, you'll get about 30mph out of it and costs around 1200 quid for a budget ebay job, a 125 scooter or motorbike will push 70 mph and you can buy one for less moeny, i've bought 1000cc motorbikes for around that money too. 6. everybody who owns one likes talking about how illegal they are and they carry them anyways i think this is the valid point in this whole discussion, actually if you want to ride an illegal bike, crack on - but be discrete about it, if you need help making something work, then people on here will help you, if you need advice, they'll advise you, but bragging rights is just a bit dumb imho..... that said, i still reckon no chance of a ban, though of course its interesting to see the traders mostly share concerns about this - of course if my livelihood depended on it, i might see more risk too. bottom line from my perspective, i weight >100kg, have half of both feet missing, and have never found 250w of mid range hub drive to be underpowered or lacking in speed. if i want to go faster, i've got motorbikes and track cars to play with (to be fair when i first started riding pedelecs, i was keen to work out how to derestrict my bh (natural curiosity and wanting to beat the system) then two things happened....1. i watched what it did to battery 2. i got my cycling fitness back and started needing the motor less.)

1000w ebike ???
there is no chance of a general ban, there isn't enough interest in this to even generate column interest in the daily fail (or flud would be hanging out on the letters pages instead of trolling on here.) much less any kind of real action. bit harsh man, to be fair since flud appointed himself resident troll/forum police, this forum has changed from a friendly helpful place to discuss/get advice on ebikes, to a friendly helpful place to discuss/get advice on ebikes with a resident troll/forum police. (and to be fair, when flud isn't on his soapbox, he seems just as keen to participate and be helpful as anyone else around here) wouldn't get too carried away - spirit and actions of this forum doesn't seem to have changed in the last couple of years to me, except for the above

1000w ebike ???
The stealth is an interesting idea - having ridden one (though not to be fair the latest version) it was cheap and cheerful Good thing or a bad thing? Its a product designed to appeal to a market, rather than something to single out for an ethical judgement imho - shedloads of way higher powered bikes available, and others eg xipi have been on the derestrict with a key game for way longer than cyclotricity have. For me, there have always been folks meeting the needs of most markets if a 1000w ebike was involved in a fataloty it might get looked into but probably not - not worth the risk imho for what you gain from higher power, but i do think the risks are relatively small and cyclotricitys aggregatable part of those risks is pretty minute tbh

Neox
Sealed chain system, internal gearbox single side wheel mounting - seemed interesting ideas some of which ive seen before but nevet all together in a purpose designed ebike - hence i was hoping for some of you smart people to comment

Neox
Anyone come across the neox (sorry if covered already but no results on search) http://www.myneox.it/neox2016/index.php/en/indice-2 Not cheap but interesting looking, though italians and electrics give me motorbike related palpatations - if anyone wants to take the plunge they have a kickstarter running which is cheaper though still far from cheap - apparently given my stellar funding of projects related to cycling before kixkstarter thought id drop 3k into this one (about 100 quid in total previously )

Which fat bike?
Interesting - id pretty much discounted the bouncer version - can i lockout the rear shock? If not its going to be painful when the battrry dies - do you have them st london/oxford shops - both easy enough for me (still surprised nothing to test at ebikeshop but guess the hsrdtails arent in yet)
