New commuter

Featured Replies

Hi

58 yr old car commuter finally decided to get a bit fitter by riding from Box in Wilts to Clifton Bristol.

Couldn't face Park St in Bristol on a non ebike so with the help of TETS Bristol I undertook some research.

The plan was to ride via lanes and canal towpath to Bath train station

Catch train to Bristol TM and cycle across town to Clifton.

Main concerns, what are ebikes like to ride and how easy to get on trains with them.

I hired a Sparticle Brompton and then a KTM

The KTM was so smooth, I was impressed but somehow the Brompton with a simple twist throttle was more fun.

That coupled with the guarantee of always being able to get on the train swung it the Brompton's way.

One red Brompton purchased on eBay and TETS Bristol did the rest

Very happy so far.

Best bit is zooming up park St past all the Lycra brigade.

Great start to a working day!

Hi Bauxite,

With your regular train commute, a Brompton is probably a good choice. And, depending on where you work, you can probably fold it and take it indoors with you, which saves worrying about what might be happening to a bike left on an outside rack.

Happy zooming :)
