July 11, 20169 yr I received my double pinion kit from Italy today and fitted it without a hitch but am getting a transmission noise that gets progressively louder when going from gear 3 through 2 to 1. I thought at first the chain was rubbing on rhe engine casing but it isn't touching anywhere.. Any ideas? Edited July 11, 20169 yr by Gubbins
July 11, 20169 yr Author Ignore the speedup device and scroll to rhe double pinion kit. http://speedup.altervista.org/crown-for-bosch-my-2014.html
July 11, 20169 yr Author Sorry Should have said chainring. Been emailing Italians and they call then pinions or crowns.
July 11, 20169 yr What is the chainline like in those gears? Noise may be coming from the cassette. Same noise on both chainwheels or only on the big one?
July 11, 20169 yr Author It seems to be coming from the front small ring (inside) when in the 2 lowest gears. chain line looks bad but not much different from before.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v65D5eX0bwU
July 11, 20169 yr That's going to get costly if like me, a sprocket only lasts about 500 miles and you have to use their specific sprockets. That is the second film clip in as many days showing poor workshop practice video. Putting a hammer through the spokes to use as a lever! The guy should be shot! The second was the Bosch clip, showing the technician laying parts and tools on the ground. Edited July 11, 20169 yr by EddiePJ
July 11, 20169 yr Author That's going to get costly if like me, a sprocket only lasts about 500 miles. It must be the way or the where you ride because the one I just took off looks like new at 650 miles... Perhaps it's the mudguards...[emoji12]

July 11, 20169 yr Is the side of the chain rubbing on the bigger ring? Also bear in mind there is a surprisingly large amount of twisting force on the bottom bracket when you are pedalling. So what happens when you spin the pedals on the workstand may not be what happens when you are riding the bike.

Yeah I would guess rubbing on cassette then. Bikes are fabulous when it comes to detecting where a noise is from they transmit vibrations so well. I have a seat noise but you would swear one of the pedals is loose...
July 11, 20169 yr looks like its not on far enough from these pics. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk37/necromunger666/CIMG6406.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk37/necromunger666/CIMG6412-3.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk37/necromunger666/IMG_0463.jpg

July 11, 20169 yr it should be will find out when he measures it could be just a bad fitting sprocket if thats the case.
July 11, 20169 yr Author Just put the old one back and it's exactly the same. So refitted without the bash ring and am going out to see what's what. One thing that occurs is the sprocket is very small and new and the chain is 650 miles old http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160711/f611b1e75996cd88fc2e1c0311ef1013.jpg
July 11, 20169 yr it looks like its on better in that pic, cant see the chain making that much difference tbh. the chain line should be best on the smaller sprocket.
July 11, 20169 yr I reckon Soundwave is correct, although now that you have reverted back to the OE set up, who knows. My thoughts are or rather were, that your bike has the modified outer bearing seal fitted, where as the KTM Macina Lycan that SW has shown doesn't. This allows the kit to sit further back. You might well need to either remove your outer bearing seal modification and chance it, or get the company that supplied the kit, to supply a seal with a reduced web/flange. As you don't ride in harsh muddy conditions, not having the modified bearing seal wouldn't be so much of an issue. It's your call though.
July 11, 20169 yr Author The problem was the rubber oring that sits on the flange. The inner ring isn't affected but the outer one has a built in spacer which sits over this rubber ring . Take it off and it's fine. What does it do exactly?
July 11, 20169 yr i thought that rubber ring went on b4 the lock ring not got it on my bike and have the bearing seal. if its working just leave it off will not do much tbh
July 11, 20169 yr Author You can see where the outer ring was sitting on this which was causing them to run slightly out of true. Been out and it's fine so thanks alk for the input..http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160711/ce5cc90ddd6a9af3864be6fc8a68e74e.jpg
July 11, 20169 yr you still cant add that spanner to the basket lol, i want 1 now but just want the sprockets without the lock ring/bash ring and not an option. will have to save my penny's

It seems to work OK.. I wanted to be able to go slower on tricky uphill bits and now I can
