smarta pedal assist problem

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 4 year old smarta lx, just recently the pedal assist has stopped working. I have looked at various threads on here and tried various solutions. I have now had my bike in the "doctors" for 3 weeks. They have replaced the sensor, controller and CPU (what I have been told). None of these have found a solution, all of the engineers are scratching their heads. Has anybody else had a similar issue? Or a combination of broken parts that could result in this problem.

any help would be appreciated

  1. Check the gap between sensor and magnetic disc should be 1 or 2 mm.
  2. Disconnect any brake sensor wire connectors and try pas with out them, if sensors are fitted are brake levers returning fully.
  3. Possible conflict with throttle if fitted, try disconnecting that as well before trying pas.
  4. Rotate pedal /cranks backward to see if it responds.
  5. Check for voltage on cable connector from controller should have 5v between P & N.

I had one issue once with pas not working after a wet ride, damp got in to the sensor and shorted the 5v line, once it dried out it was fine.
