February 1, 20188 yr I have bought a pair of Steps crank arms, to replace the standard Tongsheng items which had a ridiculous Q factor of 212mm. they came with retaining bolts that tighten using a socket rather than an Allen key. Is there any reason why I can't use the original Allen bolts? I don't want to have to carry a socket & bar around with me until I am confident that the cranks are not going to need retightening. Steve.

Steve. I did that on my GSM. I did have some problems with the left crank arm working loose, seems OK now.
