June 16, 20187 yr Does anyone know about the Sun Trip? It is a solar powered ebike race from Lyon in France to Canton in China covering 12,000 km? http://www.thesuntrip.com/ I spoke with the race organizer in Chambery today about the event and I took some other footage I'll post later
June 17, 20187 yr A couple of years ago there was a young guy who set out in a vélomobile with e-assistance. Unfortunately for him he blogged about it being unrestricted and how he was going to thrash all the other contestants. He was chucked out. Ah youth! In another life it is something I would be keen on doing.
June 19, 20187 yr Author @anotherkiwiPedelecer - that is quite funny, not really in the spirit. There is a GPS tracking system, all the bikes are equipped with spot systems. http://race.thesuntrip.com/en/ The cyclists have left the neutralized section to Chamonix and the race is on. Most riders are heading north to Bern. Another group are heading across Switzerland by the Sion valley and a few riders are heading south to Italy and the Po plain where I expect they will pick up some sunny weather. I spoke to Justin Lemire Elmore, the inventor of the CycleAnalyst power meter, about his bike he's riding to Tehran with his girlfriend
