advice please from anyone who has fitted the Currie USPD spoke clamp

Hello to any Currie kit die hards with experience of fitting the spoke drive adapter! Recently my rear hub with USPD attached has started to run rough and so I have been trying to fit the Currie kit on to a new wheel. I had understood that the Currie spoke drive adapter would fit on virtually...

Currie Electrodrive kit, 7 speed hub required?

Thank you both for clearing that up. This has been more of a cheap, fun project for me than a serious attempt to build an efficient ebike. I wanted to prove to myself that I would find regular use for a bike before committing to a better and more expensive option and it has served this purpose...

Currie Electrodrive kit, 7 speed hub required?

The advice given on fitting these outboard Currie kits is that they require a 26" or 29" wheel with 36 spokes and a 7 speed freewheel hub. Does anyone know why a 7 speed hub is specified and a 5 or 6 speed hub would be unsuitable? The completed wheel with kit requires a 140mm spacing between...

Currie USPD Kit drive chain ASA25-1 American standard

#25 ANSI ASA25-1 This is the ¼ inch roller chain used by Currie on their older USPD, Pro-Drive and Electro-Drive Kits (not on the current IZIP). No one in the UK seems to sell short lengths of this chain so I had to buy the minimum order of 3 meters. I would welcome offers for any of the...

advice sought identifying model and year of a Currie conversion kit

Thanks very much flecc for the link. EVdeals have confirmed that it's a MAC/BMC model, late 90's /early 2000's and not capable of being run at 36V. Still no luck finding a UK supplier of American National Standard #25 chain, unless I am willing place an order for a 10 foot length.

advice sought identifying model and year of a Currie conversion kit

I would like to upgrade my 300W Currie USPD motor to 36v but have learned from various posts that not all units can be over-volted without first replacing the inbuilt controller. I gather that the Indian suppliers for Currie are, or have been, Kollmorgen, BMC or MAC and one post states that not...

New member and ebike convert SLA replacement advice sought

Many thanks to all for the super quick replies and for pointing me in the right direction. I'm reluctant to pay significantly more for lithium over SLA although I do appreciate that it may be a better long term investment and offers some significant performance/weight/size advantages. For the...

New member and ebike convert SLA replacement advice sought

Hi, My first foray into battery assisted cycling has begun this week with the purchase of a second hand Currie Electro-Drive kit of unknown vintage now installed in a basic MTB. This will I hope wean me off the car for those shorter journeys and give me some much needed exercise too. I would...
