Gears for higher powered conversion question

I've just replaced my rear deralieur on my bafangHD conversion. I' built the bike in 2018 and this is the first time I've changed the gear even with regular use - so its held up well. Cant say the same about chains, or cassettes though. The long arm SRAM cage had bent in towards the wheel...

Help! Bafang HD - cranks not released when coasting

Well, this fix isn't going quite according to plan! When a theoretically simple job becomes a PITA! According to a couple of videos I've watched of BBSHD disassembly the outer case should just come off the axle revealing the pawls. (@5:24) - shows the cover coming off their BBSHD easily...

Help! Bafang HD - cranks not released when coasting

I got my new pawl delivered the other day from Elipse bikes. Fast delivery and reasonable price FYI https://eclipsebikes.com/bafang-accessories-c-17_66/bafang-bbshd-pawl-clutch-freewheel-p-329.html If anyone can recommend a suitable grease for this application - I'd appreciate it! Thanks

Help! Bafang HD - cranks not released when coasting

Thanks for the replies. I looked at a couple of YT videos, and the pawls looks a likely suspect. I've ordered a replacement. I've not done any internal work on the drive since I got it in 2018. Is there anything I should do while in in there?

Help! Bafang HD - cranks not released when coasting

I've just developed an issue on my trusty BBSHD. Basically when pedal assist kicks in (I didn't fit a throttle) , the cranks do not stop rotating unless the power is cut (e.g. braking or changing gear). Its as if I'm riding a fixed wheel bike with no freewheel - NOT GOOD! I've tried turning it...

Bafang cables - why so long!

Cheers. You know when you think you've done all your homework - then BOOM - back to square one! Im not sure why this isn't mentioned in the manual if its such a common mistake. Oh yeah - what manual!

Bafang cables - why so long!

In trying to work out the best length for the custom cable I've just ordered I had a face-palm moment. I had mounted and fixed the motor and cranks - but the best route for the main system cable would appear to be between the bottom bracket and the motor, which is not possible to thread...

What's this cable for - BAFANG BBSHD?

Hi, Sorry if it's obvious (to some) but I'm building my BBSHD conversion and was wondering what the cable in the pic is for? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in any of the BBS01/02/HD installation guides I have found online. Thanks Mark

Bafang cables - why so long!

Thanks again for comments. There are some good resources on that site - namely: https://www.e-bike-technologies.de/index.php/en/splicing-a-higo-signal-cable I've decided to buy a custom main cable from here, and will splice my gear and cadence sensors using the above technique without the...

Bafang cables - why so long!

Thanks for the replies everyone. The 100mm length is the minimum length that company can make, but that would be on top of the cables coming from the motor. I could probably just about make that work for the main harness to the display, brake and gear sensor (don't want throttle). The speed...

Bafang cables - why so long!

I'm building my BBSHD commuter and am really bored by the length of the cables. I just want to create a clean looking install without loads of coiled up excess cable tied up with zip ties. I have found someone who can build custom length cables ( https://www.e-bike-technologies.de/index.php/en/...

    Punchers & solar panels/regen breaking

Hi Tim I assume you are talking about for a domestic install and not some new bike mounted setup??? I put a 4Kw array on my house at the beginning of the summer. Have been staggered by the amount of power generated (more than we use daily)- though this summer may be a bit of an exception. If...

    What conversion kit

Nice platform. My first post here. I've bought a not dissimilar (titanium?) bike to convert for a commuter. Just received most of the parts and will be starting build this week. After lots of research, I settled on Bafang BSSHD (with Lekkie bling ring). I have a 48V 14Ah rack battery (4.5KG...
